Hi, I recently bought my Peugeot 307 style HDI diesel (3 months ago), and it has up until now been brilliant... but yesterday, it bleeped and a warning light appeared (engine) and it conked out almost immediately. I was on the A38 at the time, and the AA were called.

It was low on fuel (but not to the point that the warning light was on) so, he topped it up with diesel and it started. However, he couldn't get our car 'to talk' to his computer, and so was unable to diagnose the fault...... Read more

Bit late now but the fuel should have been filtered, a stocking is ideal.

How was the fuel removed from the van, was it syphoned out or drained from under the tank, first is preferable as unlikely to drag up water or clumps of gunge, second is very likely to cause grief, and what container was the fuel transfereed via, please don't say it was a TFR (traffic film remover) drum....

Hi all, we are working on a micra Inicia 2006. Ran a diagnostic on it and it says there is an issue with the airflow via the throttle body. We have made enquiries to replace the sensor, but people say you have to replace the whole throttle body. Why is this so when the sensor (faulty) is detachable?. Has anyone else come across ths issue?

Its unlikely that the tyres would appreciably effect your fuel consumption unless they were so far out of alignment they were being ripped to bits.

Front wipers were intermittently sluggish, but now are hardly working. Changed the wiper blades and cleaned the screen.

Checked the fuse and opened the cover where the motor transferes to the wiper axle, very greasy so cleaned the electrical pick ups (x3), Still very bad, almost stopped, and sometimes requires manual help to return the wipers to stop position. The motor clicks when trying to return the wipers to the stop position, almost like an overload. ... Read more

Gordonbennet......Thanks for the info, will try tomorrow. Just tried removing the motor but a single nut behind the bulkhead connects the motor to the linkage and this can't be accessed without removing the wipers, plastic covers etc. Plus the wife has to get to work!

Just hope it doesen't rain....I have disconnected the power feed to the motor so it doesen't overload, so if it does rain it's taxi time!...

I have been pleased with this car so far. I regassed the air con at 50 000 miles and all was ok. I noticed that it was not working very well a few weeks ago and had it re gassed at a ford main dealer. It made no difference. I have now done 100 000 miles

The air con still works but is not very cold. At over 21 C outside temperature the air coming into the car is luke warm.... Read more

High mileage mondeo variants often suffer with a worn clutch/hub friction plate on the compressor. This can cause the pump to not engage correctly. The wear can be adjusted by removing/replacing clearance shims On the pump.hth

I recently noticed oil coming from around the right hand top engine mount on my 1.6 02 reg focus (145000 miles) . Wiped it off and it kept coming back. Turned out the mount had failed - they are oil filled. Had it replaced - i thought the part quite expensive but only 30 mins labour at my independent garage. Thought I would mention this on this forum because I cannot seem to find a similar problem after searching here. Read more

The oil filter has failed after 122,000 miles with a repair bill of £1,800. The car has been regularly serviced at a VW dealer since I bought it from VW with 6,000 miles on the clock. I have read on the internet that this model had a design fault on the oil filter which was rectified on later models but VW did not do a recall. Anyone else had a similar experience? Read more

Indeed -- which is why condition is key.

TBH at this end of the market I prefer to buy those models whose values level off to nothing more quickly. This rarely has anything to do with the quality of the vehicle, but it does mean that you're getting a newer car for the same money....

Hi Guys (and girls!) need some advice please.

I have a 57 plate vw passat estate tdi which I have owned from new. Last October I needed two new front tyres and went to a national chain. I purchased one new and had the spare as the second tyre, which was new and unused. The purchased and spare were same manufacturer and markings i.e., identical, although obviously manufactured a few years apart. Also had the tracking done.... Read more
