Hi can anyone help me when i start my car from cold it struggles to start and alot of blue smoke comes out, it struggles to rev up as well. After 5 minutes driving the smoke disappears and the car runs fine, but occasionally will cut out on me and i jump start the car when it does.

Can anyone help? Read more

blue smoke on startup is usually down to leaking valve stem oil seals, as for the cutting out this is usually the cam or crank sensor breaking down when hot.

200 miles from an lpg tank means he must be driving quite a large engined car with quite a small tank. The cabbies around here have two tanks

Most typical tanks are around 50l. And can only fill to around 90%. That makes it capable of 10 gallons of fuel...

I have owned my mgf for a long while but recently it will not start in the rain so i have to shut the fuel off and turn it over and then it fires up and then quickly have to reset the fuel stop in the boot !
i dont know whether this has anything to do with it but when warmed it the engine runs at 1500 revs tickover. i have been to three garages and they all say different except price will be min £500 !!!!!!!
can you please help

I take it im right in presuming this needs replacing ASAP? also, could this be whats causing the car to not idle smoothly/rich smell out of exhaust? and the tappet style noise ive been hearing?... Read more

Having disconnected the old/dead telephony from my Peugeot 406, I can no longer start the engine. The clock, lights up, wipers are working, and dash lights come on quickly, but engine won't start and stereo is dead. I merely disconnected the block connectors. What have I done wrong? Read more

Our Ford Mondeo 2L diesel (55 plate) keeps cutting out at speed and loses complete power. We have to pull over but can restart the car straight away.

However the Ford garage couldn't find a fault with the car. The problem got worse until it was doing it all the time and we have had to leave the car in France and be recovered home.

Can you please shed some light on this for us as we need to advise the foreign garage, as they have already had the car for 10 days without finding the fault.

I have had the same problem with a 53 plate Avensis. 3 Toyota dealers could find no fault & 4 independent the same. A friend put it on his diagnostic machine and it comes up with RANDOM MISFIRE. When it starts to misfire and I go over 3000 revs I lose power but engine doesn't stop. I pull over turn off ingnition, restart and away we go all runnning fine for a while. I just put up with it now as I'm planning to change motors early next year.

Hi all.I have a 53plate Toyota Avensis and whilst I'm driving along I can hear a rapid clicking noise. When I push the clutch pedle down it stops until I release the pedle when the noise returns. Anyone know what this could be please.

I have a 1998 1.6 Ford Focus, around 76k miles.

I can't lock the car from the drivers door anymore using the key. It feels like the key can't turn left as there is a lot of resistance. I can lock the car ok from the passenger side door using the key. I can still un-lock the car from the drivers door and then remote fob still works for both locking and un-locking all the doors.... Ford locks do get 'sticky' and need a regular squirt of lubricant, using the thin red plastic tube that comes with the can. 'Duck Oil' is the best.. stops the locks icing in Winter, too. Try it before doing anything drastic.
