Hi all, we are working on a micra Inicia 2006. Ran a diagnostic on it and it says there is an issue with the airflow via the throttle body. We have made enquiries to replace the sensor, but people say you have to replace the whole throttle body. Why is this so when the sensor (faulty) is detachable?. Has anyone else come across ths issue?

Having just bought a newish car with the balance of manufacturers warranty, noticed that it is a requirement for warranty purposes to have proof of materials and parts used even when franchised main dealer servicing is done, ie parts AND lubricants. Read more

Fully agree with you, but the 2.o diesel is now superseded, units available are the astra 1.3 diesel and the 1.7 diesel. But GM has always been a dogs dinner (sorry to the dog) with its brands. The only point I make is that 4 out of my last 6 cars have been chevrolet badged and have provided me with budget motoring whilst having a manufacturers warranty, and because of the heavy (silly) discounting, buying very low cost and selling at expiration of warranty has meant budget motoring for me. On the epica in straight depreciation, (none of this capital tied up gumph) excuding fuel and ved it lost me less than a £100 a month. entirely acceptable. My case rests there M'lud.

This is very true thunderbird and it's the same for the rover but just depends on wether it turns off which he hasn't stated if it doesnt turn of then it should be worth checking the fan control relay as previously stated above cheers matt.

"One tyre contained a metal object penetrating 5cm through the tread."  Maybe this is a typo?  I will assume it was 0.5mm, as 5mm would have gone into the air chamber.  I've run on a tyre with a 0.5mm metal object (a screw) in the tread many times, as my tyres used to pick these up in my work environment.
Buying part-worn tyres is always going to be a risk, but so is driving anyway.  Buyer beware, but a reputable dealer will not sell faulty part-worn tyres.  This smells of an industry troll! Read more

This is very sad, but also very odd. Surely if he'd bought brand new tyres and let them wear to an illegal condition he'd have had the same loss of control and subsequent injury. We're all driving around on 'part-worn' tyres and we must maintain them so they are legal and, more importantly, safe - ie 1.6mm is the legal minimal but only a fool would wait until then to change them. Best changed at 2.5 to 3mm.... anything else is false economy. Equally important is to ensure no damage and no bulges and pressures are correct... Again, very sad story, but the part worn tyres are not to blame!

Folks, it has been a while since I last posted but am glad to be back. This question is inspired following reading the thread started by the gentleman with a v6 petrol 607.

I have been driving a petrol Honda FRV for the last 2ish years. It has been very reliable and an ideal family car so I intend to keep it for the next 5 years. I have been thinking of an LPG conversion but cannot actually work out whether or not it is a good idea. I can reasonably work out payback time etc but the real issue is that we do a lot of short journeys under 5 miles. I cannot work out whether or not this is a suitable pattern for an LPG car? I have received conflicting advice from installers and almost everything I have ever found on the internet is related to high milage drivers. Can HJ forum provide anything conclusive?... Read more

Thanks for all of your input folks. Unfortunatley, I am still wondering whether it would be the right thing to do. It's a car that averages around 28mpg overall so fairly thirsty, reasonable conversion costs (4 cylinder car) and there is space in the boot if I sacrifice the, still unused spare wheel (touch wood!). Fuel is available locally but without a good local LPG conversion business I'm not sure I will go ahead.

Thanks,...
