Hello
In the last few months I have been having problems the first time I start my Peoguet, in any weather conditions. The car starts but as soon as I try and drive off the first time there is little or no power and I either have to over rev or let the car stall, start again and then it is generally fine. Does anyone know what would be causing this?... Read more

Wiltshire Council have recently built up the banks around a notorious junction with the A350 and a couple of C roads. With the undergrowth building up it's nigh on impossible to see left and right when exiting the C roads.
Two accidents this week, I fear a spurious justification for more unnecessary speed limits and maybe a camera or two is being built.

There's LOADS of accidents involving foreign HGVs, mostly from EU countries like Latvia or Lithuania.
The government will write off the death toll as something which must be borne as it will lead to our economical wellbeing....

Yes, but the turbo makes all the difference which is not shown by the raw numbers. The n/a 2.0 probably made ~140 lb.ft of torque of torque at 4000 RPM and 150 hp @~6000.
A small turbo engine will have a flat torque curve from less than than 2000 to past 4000. The small turbo will spool faster than a larger one.The turbo engine will be much stronger in the low-mid range than the old 2.0....

Did they ask the mileage on the car when you insured it. If not how will they know how many miles you have done unless you tell them.
If its a new car ignore the above, its easy to tell since at first registration it should ahve done delivery mileage only....
I saw a 1997 1.6 Primera yesterday . The seller is desperate to sell the car as he is leaving the country . The exhaust is low , the clutch cable needs changing possible a new clutch , drove fine , but my biggest concern is the rust underneath the back passenger door ( not on the door itself about 5inches in length) . He has now offered it to me for £250 , the tax and MOT is till November , am I mad to say no ??? would love opinions . Read more
Haggle a bit, then use the car. Once MoT is up or clutch goes, ponder what to do but you could weigh it in for £150-ish maybe and then buy something else. So don't get carried away spending ca$h or costing all these things up.
Just be careful that that the tyres are all ok, you don't want to spend say £100 on tyres then have the clutch go/MoT failure....
Colleague of SWMBO has an astra gearbox failed 1 month after warranty expired, no Goodwill cost 2800,. bought extended warranty sold by dealer to cover other items, fuel pump failed, covered costs in all of about £2000, just been advised of turbo failure, not covered as seals not covered, probable cost £1500, Still paying for the car on the never never...
