An HGV vehicle is a lethal potentially mass-murdering machine in the wrong hands. Sounds like a sensible sentence for what could have caused tragedy to multiple families - if only we clamped down on knife-carriers as harshly.

HGV drivers carry a lot of responsibility along with their loads.

The CCTV shots shown on local TV show that three HGV drivers "simply" blocked the motorway, forcing him to U-turn up a slip road in the correct direction - that's bravery as they faced a head-on smash if it hadn't stopped - good to see them rewarded officially even if £250 is a bit derisory.

Courts have to sentence for what happened, not what might have happened. Consider if every speeder was sentenced for the possibility that they might have hit a bus queue for example. It was lucky that he was stopped without injury to anyone.
