Hi,
My Fiesta has recently been overheating. Here is a bit of background:... Read more
>>Back in December 2011, I had a faulty radiator drain valve, which caused all my coolant to leak out and I didn't realise until it was too late. I only drove it a very short distance to get home.
I'd advise forking out for a 'sniff test' to confirm it's not your head gasket as result of this earlier occurrence.
Has anyone else noticed that this year Wood Pigeons seem to have become more and more stupid and seem to be almost completely lacking in any type of road awareness ?
As for rabbits, well they'll always played chicken on country lanes in the evening around & after dark but now they've taken up the habit in bright daylight.
This week alone I've been had to brake and take avoiding action on several occasions to avoid hitting these birds as they stand on the road without a care in the world. Now if this were Heaven then I could understand they wouldn't have to fear anything and standing on the road would be fine, but in this world they are being killed as the feathers and bodies on the road testify. A blast with the hooter often works but headlights flashing are no use at all as they stand there like idiots as a 1+ton lump of UFO comes straight at them. I drove around 2 WPs yesterday and they were still standing on the road pecking away as I looked in my mirror.
The same goes for bunny rabbits, in the evening they stand on the road looking in one direction then just as you get closer to them they suddenly decide to run right across your side of the road, and what's more it's usually when there is no other traffic around apart from the one car/vehicle you happen to be driving.
Now I seemed to have developed some kind of built-in Wood Pigeon and Rabbit radar that seems to go off as soon as I'm within 1/4 mile or so of any type of wildlife that's on the road ahead of me
If I drive any slower I'll have the Mimsers flashing their lights at me and offering me free cups of caffeinated tea to drink to hurry me up as they slowly pass by ! Read more
Pheasants always feel the need to get closer and examine the noisy, bright fast thing hurtling towards them.
Just be careful about what you hit - a friend of a friend hit a goose and it wrote his car off.

SWB Nissan terrano. Very narrow jeep but probably no shorter than the sportage, low ratio box, cheap to buy, decent fuel consumption, simple mechanics and reliable.
Also if you are sold on the small jap jeep option ignore old rusty SJ's and move into the late 90's and get a Jimny.
The car is a '96 MX5 Monaco - that's a 90bhp 1.6. Mileage coming up to 120,000. On fresh oil and none used between services.

I have a vauxhall corsa 2004 1.0L which after an hour i started and immediately noticed lack of power. it wouldnt go over 30mph, with the addition of noise and shuddering while moving off. i took it to see a mechanic who plugged his computer in and told me it was the MAF. i went home and took the MAF out (not unplugged) took the part out. i tried starting the car, it started and then 2-3 seconds later it stalled and since then has not started. the engine turns over but it just doesnt start. 3 different mechanics have come to my house and had a look at it but they have no clue. im worried i may have made things worse, please help. any ideas? can a MAF stop a car from starting? Any help would be appreciated. thanks Read more

Surely that's normal for the 1 litre? It's 1 cylinder short of being a real engine. :p...
