Hi, My ford transit run out of fuel and I have since topped up with 4 jerry cans of fuel and I still cannot get the van to start.
I have cranked open all the injectors and fuel is comming through. I tried to start after this and still no joy.
The battery ended up running flat with me trying to start the van several times.
I have charged the battery by leaving it connected to my car with jump leads and tried jump starting and its still not starting.
Any ideas on what is wrong? Thanks Read more
I've been offered a discount of £3k on a new (in the showroom) 1 series convertable. It's got a fair bit of kit on it and the discount equates to about 10% off list price. I'm happy with the deal and the dealer is obviously under pressure to hit end of quarter sales targets - is this is good discount or am I kidding myself it's a good deal? Read more
Hi - recent problem with car is that after diesel light goes off the engine won't start, it is completely dead, will start with a bump quite easily. I waited for a while and tried starting it a few times, i locked it all up and hoped the key would re-set?? (i'd been told this can happen?), she still wouldn't start.
Can a starter motor be checked whilst still on the car? Read more
You could have an electrical problem that's draining your battery. I suggest you get that sorted before you start looking at new starter motors.
ok thanks very much, i'll take it to the garage, thanks for all your adviceCan someone clarify for me how long points stay on your licence for. In July 2008 I got 3 pionts for going thru a red light. In March 2009 another 3 points for doing 63mph in a 60 limit (speed camera). I thought it was 3 years but I am being told by a friend it is 4 years.Reason for asking as haven driven thru the average speed camera on the M90 from Perth to Glasgow on almost a daily basis since they started at 40mph - went thru one section on Tuesday at around 50mph I reckon, so am expecting a letter. We all need to accept that 61 in a 60 is illegal any any concession is just that, a concession.
There's no excuse as EVERY speedometer is required to over-read so it's not like driver don't know what speed they're doing - assuming they look at the thing....
i have oil coming from my turbo unit. any ideas on what is the problem thanks. Read more
Where is the oil coming from. There are two oil pipes connected to the turbo. If the leak is internal and the bearing are worn then the oil will leak into the pressure pipe going across to the intercooler. This can also be caused by a blocked engine breather preventing the scavenge return feed form the turbo from working properly. Find an Audi/Vag specialist or a turbo specials and get it looked at. I'll be there with Ford on the Thursday, definitely won't be there on Friday morning. Renault had a vague idea of involving me with the new Dacia Duster being price launched at Goodwood, but that has not yet been confirmed.

Shortly will be travelling to Canada again for forth time and shall be driving a hire car in Vancouver and Alberta. Having driven on each ocassion with my UK photo and paper license with no problems with any of the car hire companies.
Recently on the AA site I see they recommend to have a IDP to drive in Canada. Have any legal requirements changed since 2007 to drive in Canada needing to have this permit. Read more
Well I hired a car in Vancouver in 2009 with my UK licence, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website says that you don't need an IDP.
