Hello, I wonder if someone has any advice for me?

I put my car through a car wash which included the wheel scrub, I have used this auto wash a few times previously with no problems. On returning home my other half pointed out large circular scratches on the paintwork behind the wheel arch of the front tyres and before the wheel arch of the back tyres (on the sides of my car), 4 sets of scratches in all. This damage appeared to have been caused by the wheel scrub missing the wheels of my car as it went through the wash process.... Read more

Small Claims Track of the County Court is quick, relatively cheap and free if you win. May I suggest you start compliling a case file? Do you have the receipt for the car wash, the one with code on it and a date/time stamp? Take some good photos of the damage, think about getting a body shop quote or one from Chips Away or one of the paint franchises, if they can do it and their work would be acceptable to you. That should be a start.

Ok - the time has come to get rid of the Mazda 6 (gasp! I hear you say) and it's not worth part exchanging it on my new (not new, new to me) purchase.

What's the best way of getting rid of it? I am not in a massive hurry to do so (want rid by end of July) although I will have to declare it SORN and keep the insurance on but that's not a problem. ... Read more

No - Paypal takes a cut of your money over a certain (pretty low) value so I wouldn't use that!

I have been offered a Nissan Primera 1.8 2002 for 1,000 . I am hoping to do a 300mile round trip in it , is it economical and does the price sound reasonable . I am hoping to do a 300mile round trip in it with my children during the summer holiday. Read more

Make sure it's not one of their engines with stretchy cam chains [try googling Nissan cam chain problems]. One of our staff members was quoted a four figure sum to fix her Primera when the red light came on, although I believe you can bodge the cam sensor, or something. Having the cam rotate a fraction of a degree behind where it should be doesn't really matter - four figures buys a lot of extra petrol for the slightly suboptimal performance.

It does all its supposed to do when starting, even that click but it just doesnt get to the final stage of actually staying on.

It does sound like the battery could be a dodgy connection, considering its not all the time....

The active ingredient contained in Xtreme Fuel Treatment™ has proven to reduce harmful emissions levels and fuel consumption in numerous field tests, as well as recognized and approved EPA test facilities. These tests also prove that Xtreme Fuel Treatment chemistry is harmless to fuel properties and engine components, while reducing deposit formation. The test procedure summarized in this document outlines a rigorous study performed with a regional trucking company. This study further documents the fuel savings potential of the fuel catalyst chemistry.... Read more

Hi, question for you here - OK so just last week, whilst driving around a corner the engine temporally stalled for a split second, this was complemented with a screech from the drivers side of the engine, upon driving home there was a slight chaffing sound, i traced this to the idler pulley (packing in) and replaced myself. I resumed driving normally for a day or so when a rattling/clattering sound appeared and has continued, but only seems to appear on initial acceleration after the engine has warmed up. It seems to be coming from somewhere around the water pump pulley but however is very difficult to pinpoint.

I have just checked the flaps (removing vacuum pipe) and the noise remains, any ideas welcome. Thanks in advance... Read more

I have a Focus 1.8 TDCi 2009 135k miles, however the query could relate to any car.

I feel 'play' in the transmission when changing 1st to 2nd or stop-start in 1st or reversing. I jacked up each front wheel in turn, put in gear (with engine off) and could feel free play, along with a 'clicking' as I turned it back and forth. Was just under 1 inch movement at the tyre, same on each wheel. Amount of play didn't seem to change whether in 1st or 5th gear (although in 5th I could start to turn the engine so the free play was more disguised).... Read more

Hi Everyone , I recently bought a car (Vauxhall Zafira comfort 1.8, 02 plate) that I was told was in great condition but wasn't as a result have spent load on it with still pending problems . I am now going to get rid of it as no way I am going to get the 2000 I have spent on it . I have decided to give up and buy another . I am on a very low budget to buy my next car . I have a 300mile round trip to make in July and that's the reason I wanted to buy the car . I was wondering whether anyone can get ideas on a old car that can deal with this type of journey . I was thinking of getting a zipcar for the journey , however I just think its a waste of money.
I have been offered a Honda Civic estate 1999 , Ford Galaxy 1998 , Toyota Avensis 1998 and Honda Civic 1998 Auto .... arent all these cars too old ? I am interested in anyone opinion and ideas for other cars . I look forward to hearing from you .

My sister's BF drove a Kia Rio around the dales of Yorkshire - his mum had it before him and he ran it for 8 years (so it took some teenage mistreatment too) until he traded it for a Clio.

I have now got Chrome but I have found the answer. It is that anything that goes into Junk Mail on my system and deleted is automatically sent to the Blocked Senders list so can't be sent again. I now find I have already sent hundreds of emaillers to the list without realising.
