The car has a tinkling/rattling noise. This has been identified as possibly the chain cam tensioner not performing properly. The previous owner did not have the car serviced for a couple of years, so the oil was pretty thick. An oil change has not solved the problem. any suggestions would be welcome Read more
I want to sell my 2004 (48000 miles) Lexus SC430, it was originally a very expensive car and I am not sure which site to use to sell this as I am not sure sites like Autotrader will be the best place to do this.
Do you have any suggestions - thanks. Read more
Rear seats are only for people with no legs, some road tests mention scuttle shake and boot is on ly 135 litres with the roof down. Probably a well built, reliable and costly to run car but hardly a classic. £13000 is being asked for 2005 cars

I still don't get why you would paint an engine. Does it look more pretty? I hope you painted flowers or butterflies on it.
Can anyone help?

Fan control unit is fried. It's the aluminium box behind the front bumper on the passenger side, between the bumper and inner arch.
Hi all, just went to the DMV this morning to get my new banger Benz registered...fee for one year was a stratospheric $165. I think that's the most I've ever paid to register a car! (last one was like $60) Now I'm sure your fees vary by make, model and year, but I was curious as to what all y'all pay for your registrations...is there a formula to work out what they cost? Read more
Not really! Someone has to pay the "Registration fee" to get the vehicle on the road. The explanation of pre-registration deals is:-
Quite often our customers ask why some of our cars are registered but unused....
I previously had a citroen xsara and there was a slight high pitch whine when you put the foot on the accelerator, but never had any problems and didn't work out what it was. I have test driven a citroen c4 2.0 top oof the range today and I can hear the same whine between 40-60mph, what could it be? Is it just something citroen engines do? I know the mileage is 61000 and the cambelt will need to be replaced at 80000. any experience or thoughts? Plus can rain get to the bottom metal lip that comes out of the bottom of the radiator, becaise I saw water there? Read more
Thanks for all the advice everyone, my mechanic is going to come with me to see if he can hear the noise on thursday, if he says the car is ok, I will finally be back on the road!

I would not mind getting in a 15 year old plus taxi, rather than getting in a nearly new vehicle which likely means a space saver or no spare wheel, and in the event of a breakdown nothing can be fixed at the roadside which means recovery is needed. Why are new cars not judged on having a drivetrain that is proven for 200k plus? Rather than nice looking lights on the dashboard and lovely glossy literature that means it is the best thing since sliced bread.
Hi
I am looking to buy a used family car that is reliable as cannot afford constant trips to garage. Looking up to 1.6 diesel or petrol. If diesel don't want models with dpf problems.

It had 77000 when I bought it 5 years ago.
