Is this too much as the garage I bought the car from , who sell Hyundais but also have a Ford service centre, stated that this is a major service where the brake fluid needs to be changed as well as normal service items? I do have a service plan, which will cover £ 185 of the cost, but is this too much for the service. However, the dealer does have a reputation for being honest and isn't one that creates work for themselves. Read more

Hi,
Is there anyone out there who has had those problems with their 2003 skoda octavia 1.6 petrol?
Engine warning light constantly on, despite re sets. common apparently
Engine racing between 1,00o and 2000 RPM when very warm.(have been told its the step sensor??)
engine when cold or warm now will only run smoothly when in 1st 2nd or 3 rd gear, 4th or 5th and the car feels like it will shake to bits.
After the above first happened,i took it to my local garage, they plugged it in to the diagnostic system which registered 5 faults, all random and electrically generated.

please can anyone advise or have the same problem?
Thanks adamf Read more

Hope it sorts the problem for you. From memory the sensor is about £25 plus maybe an hour of labour.

I have a Toyota Avensis on a 55 plate, 2.0 litre auto. Occasionally on pulling up the car will stall. In my youth I would have lifted the bonnet and adjusted the idle but now \i have no idea how to adjust the idle speed.. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Many thanks but does this mean I need a new ECU and if so how much?

No, I think it means you may have an intermittent fault with a sensor, which when fixed, would cure your stalling problem....

Anybody had a problem with small flaw in the body of a steel wheel leading to deflation. I have had 2 in a year. Original GM wheels with a Dunlop stamp in the rim. Both occured after a tyre change. An existing manufacturer defect triggered by the tyre change process was the diagnosis. No prevous dammage kerbing etc. I am concerned about the other 3.

I have just had the LH lower arm and drop link replaced and the car steers differently than before. What happen is that when I steer round a left hand bend I can feel a slight over steer which causes me to have to correct the steering, ie turn the wheel slighty to to the right to counter. This then will make the car go to the right whereupon I have to correct to left. it's subtle not severe, but a bit unnerving. It's as if I have a very soft tyre or a loose wheel, which I haven't. Also if I go down a dip in road the car tend to whip slightly. I never noticed this before, maybe I'm getting too wary. Any clues please? Read more

Next job anti roll bar bushes and I aint dropping the sub frame. I'm going to try and lever the brackets up after removing the front 10mm bolts, hoping the brackets don't snap . If they snap then it's garage job , no big deal.

Kia has announced a recall for the Borrego, a full-sized SUV that was made by the company for only a single year. Hey,

I am in a bit of a dilemma I have owned a 1.4 VW Golf 2001 (Y) for the last 4 years and 4 months it is still in great condition, and 80,000 on the clock. I am getting a new car and always thought I'll keep the Golf as a run about for taking the dog up the hills, and for the missus whist she is off on maternity leave so she can nip to the local shops, classes and appointment etc......basically it will be hardly doing any miles.....BUT its fair to say its cost be a bit over the time I have had it and my question is to anyone out there that can help is it worth keeping? What else major can go wrong over the next 2-3 YEARS?

Depends on mileage and condition, which you haven't told us about. Have a look for similar models on Autotrader - althoughb there may not be many as not a lot of people would choose a Mini convertible with diesel and automatic!
