have had problems now for some time have had new sensor, new air filter, plugs, checked cam, checked air system for leaks, car has gone into auto electrical engineers and they are stumped, runs like a dream without the sensor plugged in, but as soon as the codes are cleared and its re plugged car acts like a nutter, wont pull, wont excellerate, trying to hold at speed and you feel surges and dying, at times the tick over is erratic, and at worst it will refuse to pull just as you try to come out of a junction, am running it at the mo without sensor plugged in but obviously this is not really a good idea for too long, engine code is po100 so its def a maf problem, so HELP !!!!! Hi

I bought a 2009 Audi S4 from an independent dealer 11 days ago, looked good when I inspected it, HPI clear, test drove well.

I have since given it a good wash and found that it has been resprayed poorly, there is crazing in the black paint on the wheel arch and passenger rear door plus evidence of very slight overspray on the boot shut. it would of been very difficult to spot this on the forecourt as it had just been freshly waxed when I saw it and this may of hidden the defects.

The car was described to me as in very good condition and went through an inspection before I paid for it and was stated it had no faults.

What rights do I have ? They will obiviously try and put the paint right (I Hope !) but I fear it will be a cheap job, AFAIK to get rid of these defects you have to sand it down to primer etc.

Any ideas if I can reject the car under SOGA ?

Thanks for your help. Read more

When you bought the car you clearly failed to inspect it as well as you say you did.

New battery in the fob would be a good starting point. On the local High Street Timpsons and Maplin fit them .

Hello everybody,

I lend my car to my friend and he got flashed by a speed camra. I told him he can drive the car after he buy an insurance. He promissed to insure the car. I didn't have time to wait until he do it (I was rushing to work). He genuinely forgot to call them (he had lots of presure that day and I belive him). Now... the police might find out he was driving without an insurence. If that will happen am I also responsible? I made myself very clear about buying an insurence and he can admit it. Read more

The threat of a permitting charge is used in some areas to deter tales of the "my cousin was driving and he's now gone home to New Zealand" variety. It certainly was here in northants a fewyears ago when SWMBO got a ticket for failing to spot the mobile camera!!

If you name your friend as the driver and he coughs for the speeding offence insurance may never be looked at.

I had a coolant leak and the coolant exchange was replaced, this lasted for 6 months and needed replacing again, the garage did this under the parts warranty but since they have replaced this part I have had to take the car back to the garage about 4 times because the overheating warninglights keep coming on, and the heating failed only blowing out cold air. They tell me this is due to an airlock, they tell me they have drained the system and the problem is fixed but it is not, the car now has an engine fault symbol flashing, would this be related to the cooling system not working properly? Where do I stand legally because I have paid for the problem to be fixed and it has not been fixed, I don't want to have to keep having to take this car back to them but I will because they haven't fixed the problem and appear to be making it worse. If the engine fails and this is related to work they have done will I have to pay them. This is very frustrating having paid for a car to get fixed and now have to keep returning because the fault is not fixed. I need some help on this matter please and want to know where I stand legally if further problems occur due to the work this garage did. Read more

Legally if it is a recuring fault, ie the same thing fails over and over again, they should do the work for free.

Had a Mercedes with the same problem reoccuring on the injectors and this I was told....

Yesterday my alarm started going off (2-20mins after locking with the NATS key fob). The only way I could stop this was by locking the car manually with the key (and thus not turning on the alarm or immobiliser). However leaving the car locked in this way means the following lights appear on the dash (although not immediately - can appear after an hour or so); Oil, Break and Battery. The car isn’t worth anything at all so I don’t want to take it to a garage to get this fixed. Hope someone can help. Read more

Good morning.
My first post in ages. My question is, does anyone on the forum own or has driven a new model Yaris?
I am finding the throttle pedal very heavy to use, to the point it is causing me foot pain. I am disabled so this may have something to do with it, but I never had trouble with my previous car which was an old model Jazz.
I have only driven 700 miles so far.
Many thanks

If they cannot improve it a floor mounted throttle pedal conversion may help.

Thanks for that. Taking car into dealership today for assessment....
