Thanks Tommy, My daughter left her lights on resulting in a flat battery and needed to enter the keycode.

She had the key code and manual. Followed the instructions. No joy radio behaved as your fist post....

An interesting and sad story. If only he had given his cambelt a squirt of belt dressing and left well alone it would probably still be running as well as our X reg 1.6Zetec 106,000m Focus. There are hundreds of thousands of these engines around and they don't seem to suffer from belt failure because they are well designed.

Hi Darren,

I'm currently having a leak issue like yours with my mk6.5 fiesta. Is this the same style as yours as I know the new shape was introduced in 2008 as well....

Hi

I am looking at 2 Beemers,

One is a 118d manual SE with quite a lot of extras including Start/Stop, Pro Sat Nav, heated seats etc, but missing a few things I really want, most importantly Blue Tooth preparation for pairing a mobile phone to it

Other is a 120d M-Sport Auto, again with lots of extras, mainly the same as the above plus Bluetooth prep, and a few other things too (like memory seats), the Bluetooth prep is important to me, but so is fuel economy and it doesn;t have the start/stop

All the reviews says the 118d is the one to go for, but this is a private purchase, not company purchase, so Road Tax is issue not company car tax.

How do they compare with respect to Insurance Group, Road Tax for private user?

Real world fuel economy register shows very little difference between them.

Other issue is the sports suspension versus the standard suspension, but only I can answer that one myself based upon personal preference.

Tried both before buying the 118D. Both were manual and the 120D did have a bit more performance but in the real world the 118D is well quick enough. Ours is the 143bhp model with stop/start.

Road tax on 118d manual is £30 PA, on 120d auto its £130. Official combined on 118d is 62.8 mpg, we get 48 mpg approx. The 120d auto has a combined of 52.3, expect to get 40 mpg max....

Friend has one in an 05 Audi A4. From inside it is quiet and I think quite punchy. But it's all insulation! Outside, it is very clattery. I think he averages about 35 too.

I have driven an 2006 A6 Avant for 100k - no issues at all and no plans to let it go...

Mine is 2.7TDI manual S Line- no timing belt, none (I hope) of the reliability issues of the 2.0TDI - regular 40-42 mpg in everyday use, no significant mechanical issues. Feels and looks very close to the day I picked it up with 4k on it....

Dear All

I've sadly fallen victim to dual mass flywheel issues on my 9 month old Audi A1. I've lookeda round the internet and have discovered that DMF have been troublesome for all amnner of cars and warranties are not lived up to as the retailers blame it on driving style. I read on this website that the difference in wear can be visible on a damaged clutch and flywheel between DMF being faulty and riding the clutch. Can anyone perhaps describe what this would look like or point me in the dirrection of where to find this information.... Read more
