I have recently had my 2 front coil springs and 2 track ends done on my car on monday just gone and when I got the car home noticed gearbox oil leaking onto the floor, I took it back to the garage and it appeared to be leaking from the driveshaft oil seal this was subsequently replaced and the leak continued. This leak was not present before the trackrod ends were replaced in my view I think the garage have been too heavy handed and broke a seal on the gearbox as there is absolutely no oil leaking from the driveshaft oil seals what soever. The garage does not seem to want to take responsibility for this and I am wondering wheher they have damaged the seal or if im just been paranoid? has anyone ever experineced this problem at all and is it possible that it is the garages fault? if anyone can help please let me no asap as i am at my wits end.

If the oil leak is on the nearside it could be that the drive shaft has not fully entered the diff, it should snap into position. See if you can move the shaft in and out, if so drive it in either by hitting the inner joint with a soft hammer or clamping mole grips round the shaft and hitting them.
I've been with the Co-op for a few years and they've always been really competitive and I think the customer service is great.
I have recently bought much newer car (1 year old Peugeot 3008) and initially I swapped the existing policy to the new car. Renewal is now due and coming in at £763. I found out I could save about £150 if I cancel policy and take out another through the Co-op website (which I think is pretty shoddy) but I also put my details into Confused.com and Esure came out at £400.... My wife and I had both cars insured thru Esure because they were the cheapest and appeared to be good value. This all changed when my wifes car was damaged in a carpark by someone else's door blowing out of their grasp and putting a big dent in the nearside passenger door. Only then did we realise how rubbish they were. I ended up doing all the chasing round trying to sort the paperwork out and get the car repaired
The next problem was my fault driving into the back of a Fiesta at walking pace with minimal damage to the Fiesta and no damage to our C3....

As mentioned in the "Noise" post on tyres, I'm about to change from the factory Primacy's on my C5 saloon [auto, 2.7 V6 HDi] to Bridgestone Turanza ER300s. I hope they'll be quieter. I'm on 33,000 miles, having swopped the rear tyres to the front about halfway, so now all four are at around 2mm. Big bill to come on Saturday!
I purchased a new Hyundai i30 world cup edition - all bells and whistles one year ago. No problem -had it's 1st.service,all OK. However I now have a serious water problem in the passenger footwell. Did this man ever get his Hyundai fixed and was it the pollen filter?
This happens all the time on most forums, people come on to moan about a fault with their car (normally before giving the dealer a chance to fix it under warranty) but never come back to report after the fault has been fixed. The info about how it was sorted could well be useful to other owners....

Isnt it a bit sexist to presume a woman would automatically prefer a Mini over a big car?

Had trouble selcecting 3rd gear on my home tonight - took two attempts on each occasion. Called in somewhere on my way home and when I came to leave, I couldn't get car into reverse gear at all. After a push onto the road, I drove home, parked on the drive and eventually managed to get it into reverse.
I then put the car in the garage and noticed that, in the 2-3 minutes it had been on the drive, it had leaked a dark brown fluid.... Read more
Update - I've just received the car back and the jerkiness issue when accelerating and decelerating seems to have disappeared with the new gearbox and clutch.
Here are some photos of the old gearbox casing and diff which show what caused the failure :...
When I last changed my car and informed Tesco, they gave me the spanish inquistion as to any modifications and any optional extras. I told them it had a couple of factory fitted options and surely it didnt make any difference, but they insisted it definitely did. I said rear parking sensors and they went away for several seconds and came back and said ok that option didnt affect the premium but did need to go on the certificate.
What factory options do you think, would attract a higher premium?... Read more
The spare wheel went under the boot floor in a proper well, where it sits in cars for markets where the importer doesn't try to charge extra,,,,,,,
My wife’s Peugeot 307CC developed a cooling problem. After returning from 30+ miles of motorway driving the engine was running cool, water and oil temp gauges both low and the radiator fan was on continuously. The cooling system header tank showed a water level between min and max so not much water had leaked out. The fault may have existed for a day or two without detection as only short journeys had been undertaken on the previous day. Two days later we took it the main dealer for diagnosis and repair. The car was not used in the interim.

Thanks to all who responded to my question. Here is news of some developments.
The reply from nico77 is "on the money". It looks like the garage were reporting a genuine cause for concern although clearly trying it on to upsell the job. ...
hi does any know anything about free play on ford focus clutch pedals when releaseing the clutch ie when you press down, results in long travel of clutch and to my mind uncomfortable leg postion to avoid rideing the clutch as the pressure needed to depress the clutch is slight.clutch is firm after this point and biteing point nice and low.any help much appriciated as ford main dealer does not seem to think this is solverble and "its just free play" Read more
Not sure if you mean that the bite point is too low or too high, but perhaps this depends on how worn the clutch is? I always found the clutch on my Focus TDCI ('03 model) had a bite point close to the top of the travel and was quite sharp, so that it was easy to stall the engine, but it was the original clutch after 62k miles so may have not been at its best. I'm not sure if it's possible to adjust the pedal so that the clutch bites at a different point in the travel, but from the reply of the Ford garage it sounds like this might not be possible.
Could you possibly tell me the code for mine?
