hyundai i30 CRDI 2010 - Water leak in footwell - alfie brown
I purchased a new Hyundai i30 world cup edition - all bells and whistles one year ago. No problem -had it's 1st.service,all OK. However I now have a serious water problem in the passenger footwell. The wetness appears regardless of the air con. being on or off.I can find no source for this water. Anybody got any ideas?

Surely its still under gaurantee, if the carpets have got wet they need replacing along with the sound deadening material under them if you don't they will start to smell and you will not get rid of it.

Indeed, not your problem, it's the maker's.

Get it fixed and dried out pronto or you'll end up with a thoroughly damp car when the really cold weather arrives and your windows will be steamed and iced up inside the whole winter.

Was the pollen filter changed at service time? A quick Google suggests on the i30 it is at the back of the glovebox. It could be worth a look to see if it has been put in properly as water getting past incorrectly fitted pollen filters isn't unknown of in other marques.

Hi

We once (10-15 yrs ago) had a Senator 3.00lt. all bells & whistles and some roof slates fell off and damaged the roof. So had a new roof on car put on.

Afterwards we had same problem but in driver's footwell.

It took JTC900 in Bradford 5 months to find out what was causing it, after replacingin all window seals etc. A mechanic from another depot came in and said "I bet I can fix it" and he did.

It turned out to be the drain channels from the roof that normally channel water from the roof down under where the windscreen wipers fix and outside, but a pipe had been bent on the driver's side and water was draining into the foot well.

Thank God for that mechanic, whoever he was. No problems after that.

Did this man ever get his Hyundai fixed and was it the pollen filter?

This happens all the time on most forums, people come on to moan about a fault with their car (normally before giving the dealer a chance to fix it under warranty) but never come back to report after the fault has been fixed. The info about how it was sorted could well be useful to other owners.

Best recent one I saw was a chap who had a starter motor noise on his Kia Ceed, when asked if he had been to the dealer since it was still under warranty he said he was reluctant to go since all Kia dealers have a poor reputation. Bet he never reports back when its been fixed FOC.
