Hi all, back in April, whilst coming home from my nanas funeral, a car overtook a row of parked cars and smashed my mirror. Anyway, we made after her and forced her to stop. She kept changing her story and I pointed out my in car CCTV. I reported it to my insurance and the police.

This could be any number of issues, very possibly 'back room' reasons which your insurer would never disclose but essentially mean that it's not worth their while doing what you pay them to do and persuing your claim. The other driver might be insured with the same company meaning that they are trying to avoid paying out of their own pockets, for example.
As for the police, does your evidence clearly show her registration number at the time of incident? It's extremely dissapointing that somebody has gone to the trouble to fit CCTV to their car only to be fobbed off with lame ' we cant be bothered' policing. If your evidence is genuinely credible and they just aren't pulling their weight, try putting in a complaint and see if that assists them with the speed of their 'enquiries'. But, crucially, bear in mind that if all you have is a blurry image of some annonymous car passing by then they really won't be in a position to do much. You would need clear evidence depicting either the driver or the number plates, otherwise the police simply have your word against hers....

I don't use the dealer for mine now unless desperate. I have found a good indie who turned a £600 dealer quote into a £100 bill. I have to say swmbo's Volvo has cost more reccently to keep on the road than my CLK. If you use main dealers for most makes it can get expensive....VW were brilliant at giving out wallet busting bills. Should run a competition for the bill of the month and see which car really costs megabucks to fix.
I recently bought this car with 16"alloys and 195/55 tyres - usually fitted I believe with 15" alloys and 195/65 tyres. When I need to replace tyres, can I use 195/65 on the existing alloys, as in theory this should give a slightly gear ratio, a more relaxed cruise and improved mpg?
I would value your comments. Thank you in anticipation.... Read more
In theory, yes.
Dunno about other tyre fitters but Costco are very squiffy about fitting 'incorrect' tyre sizes....
Story in local paper reporting that Leeds City Council are paying £10775 a year to rent a Daimler to waft the lord mayor round on his civic duties, the problem is they already own a Vauxhall Omega limo for this purpose so why not use it and make a saving for the public purse,or is it a bad case of badge snobbery, no wonder we are in the..... After 4 years in a Zafera 1.9 diesel with 6 speed auto, I have changed to a 2 year old Qashquai manual. Having read all the reviews, I was expecting a big improvement. I now realise just how good my old Zafera was. The 6 speed auto was as good or better than any used before. The ride and handling was also better than Qashqai. However I must admit Qashqai is very smooth and quiet. The usual rattle from the boot is still to be conquered, I am about to strip off the lining and check inside. I am also missing the little places, rubber lined to place my bits, like garage door opener and keys. My Zaferra never used more than 47 MPG, Qahqai is about 37,

Hi, I have a 55 plate Mazda 3, whilst driving today the Slip Indicator warning light just came on. I always associated this with adverse road conditions which cause traction to be lost. I recall seeing this during the snowy periods early this year.
It went out for a little while but has come on again.... Read more
Thanks for that laurance, will do. It's the wife's car so i'll give her a bell. Have you done anything about it with regards to repairs. Don't really want to spend money if there is no need.
Thanks again.
It's becoming increasinly irritant over my past few visits that when reaching the HJ site one is bombarded with additional windows showing adverts for some c**p or other. If I wanted three different browser windows open, two of which showing completely pointless web 'pages', then I'm very capable of arranging that myself!
As it happens, all I actually want is the one site I have navigated to! Is it only me who finds this enormously annoying?!! Read more
No problem with Zoosk dating service advertising on HJ but perhaps the top banner isn't the best place for their ad; four mugshots of young girls juxtaposed to a grinning middle aged man is not a good look!
