2009 Mercedes A150 classic - Tyre sizes - mike the bike

I recently bought this car with 16"alloys and 195/55 tyres - usually fitted I believe with 15" alloys and 195/65 tyres. When I need to replace tyres, can I use 195/65 on the existing alloys, as in theory this should give a slightly gear ratio, a more relaxed cruise and improved mpg?

I would value your comments. Thank you in anticipation.

In theory, yes.

Dunno about other tyre fitters but Costco are very squiffy about fitting 'incorrect' tyre sizes.

You'll increase the diameter by ~6%-a useful increase. The speedo will be slightly out but since they tend to ~5% optimmistic not a big deal. If the wheel archs are tight, clearance might be an issue-doubt it though.
