Hello
I wonder if someone could recommend or knows about auctions that deal with salvage motorcycles/ scooters as I had an attempted theft and I am looking to change some items. I am in the sussex area, but I can use a van to transport the bike if needed.... Read more
I've another thread in General Discussions but this is the correct place for the thread.
I had a new Steering Rack fitted and now have no electric power to the steering wheel. No air bag (warning light is flashing), no cruise control and no horn. It was like this driving it out of the garage. It didn't happen afterwards.... Read more
The garage is probably correct in their diagnosis of the clock spring"gone",but i would think it has been damaged when the steering rack was fitted. The clock spring is a plastic ribbon cable that sits behind the steering wheel and transmits all the electrics to the wheel including the airbag .The garage has made the basic mistake of not locking up the steering wheel while the rack is disconnected. This allows the steering column and wheel to rotate beyond its limit and break the cable. There are about 3 turns from the central position for the cable to be working within its limit.Take the car back and get them to fix it Foc.Fortunately the part is not very expensive.hth
Hi there,
I've just had a new Steering Rack fitted to my Ford Mondeo Mk2... Read more
The squib or spiral is the most likley cause, this can break if the steering wheel gets turned whilst the rack is removed. The nature of the set up lower down the colomb does enable an easy rack change and removal of the steering wheel is not required. If the squib has snapped this may be why the CC doesnt work or may be re;lated to a switch on the pedals that could of been knocked.
I would suggest a diagnostic check first just incase its a seat belt pre-tensioner, often triggered by poor wiring after the drivers seat has been moved. Anyone in the trade will remember the problems that occur with just having to move a seat that hasnt may be moved back in years....
I have spoken to a couple of dealers with regard to changing my current car for which the finance deal runs out in September. Both have suggested that there would be savings to be had if I changed before September. Having a new reg car on September 1st doesn't bother me but I would only be interested in changing early if there are savings to be had. How keen are dealers to shift cars between the March and September new registration dates? I am not expecting any huge discount but is there a bit of leverage to be had in this period? Read more
Back in the days of annual registration plates there would be a dearth of sales in July and a flurry of sales around August 1st. The reason for switching to a 6 month registration plate was to put a stop to all this silliness and even out the pointless fluctuation of sales. So, no, I doubt it'll make much difference.
I want to swap my current 18" wheels for smaller better riding ones for my 2.7 V6 C5. One model comes with a set of 16" ones so that's what I'm after. Can anyone recommend where I can get value for money - Citroen have quoted me £1,300 for a new set of wheels and tyres, and I'm sure I can do better than that, both for wheels and tyres. I don't need alloys or fancy ones. Read more
C5 is generaly a very comfortable car, but I guess after some time & getting used to it all, you just would like even more of that Comfort, hence the decision ? I’m afraid that when it comes to V6 versions, there’s just no way 16” wheel will fit in because of brake calipers being too big or something like that. You may try 17”, though

Did you not cover Einstein's theory of Special Relativity in school?
Driving seven times around the M25 in an anticlockwise direction will result in time dragging so much that you'll THINK it's taken you three days to complete the exercise, whereas the world outside the car has only moved forward by a day.

You are obviously one of those people who regard the posted signs regarding various speeds as the minimum speed to travel at where as they are the ABSOLUTE maximum allowed. So who are you to decide exactley what speed another vehicle should be travelling at ? A ten mile stretch of dual carriage way at 40mph would take 15mins to travel. At 60mph it would take 10mins. Wow, what a saving, five whole mins ! I`m sure that every single minute is so important to you ! I venture to suggest that when asked the question, how long does it take you to drive to work you are one of those people who reply, Oh, ten mins (or whatever) regardless of what the conditions of the road or weather are.
As we are making completely groundless assumptions, you are obviously one of those people who consider driving at 33% over the speed limit in rural villages is completely acceptable....
Hi,
I have just bought a VW Sharan and when you unlock the drivers door with the key (it didn’t come with a remote/alarm fob – not sure if it should have?) the alarm goes off. If you unlock the car from the passenger side then the alarm doesn’t go off. The only way to turn the alarm off once it is sounding is to hold the key in the unlock position on the passenger side.... In Passats and Superbs those types of problems can indicate a problem with the CCM (Comfort Module) that sits in the footwell and gets wet when the plenum chambers are blocked. Not sure about the Sharan so maybe worth getting it scanned with VAGCOM diagnostics at a friendly independent not an expensive main dealer. Strange you didn't get a remote alarm key as reprogramming the key on one of our Passats cured a similar problem. Again VAGCOM will show up any issues with the fan motors on the AC.
Hi, passed my test a couple months ago, about to hit 23 and looking for my first car.
I was quite keen on the look of the aygo/107/c1 cars, cheap to run/inusre etc but even given that it seems expensive for what they are. For the same used price (4k) or even cheaper I buy something like a Peugot 207, previous generation fiestas ibizas and such.
My main routes to work are either A-Roads for 25-30 minutes or motorway for about 20 minutes, depending on my chosen route so not completely convinced that such a small car would be the best idea, though anything would be better than my current bus journey :p.
I learnt on a micra, I had no problem with the speed of the thing but I really disliked the handling I had no feel for what the car was doing at higher speeds and the body roll really bothered me especially on country roads ... Read more
Crazy H, when my daughter was looking at cars the insurance quotes were horrendous, but the new car avenue started to drop down to around 6-700, we guessed may be the ins company think we take more care of a brand new car ! ,Even 2 year old model the same was dearer than a new one! then she restricted the milage and upped the excess, got it down to 525 then , on the advice of the ins company put Mum and dad on as named drivers and that dropped it to £330.00 wierd or what but true. So the policy is in her name and its her car. She was 19 when she bought it.
HELLO I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FROM NEW AND HAD THE CAM BELT AND KIT CHANGED TWICE. THE ENGINE HAS NOW DEVELOPED A BAD ENGINE KNOCK AND STARTED TO LOSE POWER. CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I HAVE PUT INJECTOR CLEANING FLUID IN TO SEE IF THAT STOPS IT. Read more
Peter it is running rough. It takes 3-5 mins cranking the engine to start with loads of smoke. Engine management light on. Goes off when you build revs up.Cheers Trevor.

While you can visit the site and view the bike, the Copart auction is online.
They are certainly where most of the insurers' salvage is directed to.
