hi im looking to buy a summer fun motor

My auto C Max has developed an intermittent fault inasmuch as when selecting D or R it occasionally leaps forward or back and then stalls. In addition at low speed when slowing down to corner etc the engine appears to 'hunt' and occasionally when coming to a halt the car will surge forwards and stall.
It sounds expensive but wonder if others have experienced the same problem.... Read more
Hi further to my earlier post about my faulty Nissan Xtrail i have decided to get shut, today i have been looking at a Passat diesel 2.0tdi i work on these engines at work and leaning towards one.
Anyway while i was at the dealers they had a very nice 2007 Ford Mondeo 2.0tdci 115 Ghia with all the bits, i have never been keen on the mondeo but after a test drive i was very impressed, my only concern was how noisey it was when cold, is this normal from this model? it was quiter when warmed up.... Common failures on Ford TDCi engines are camshaft sensors. Fortunately it's a 30 second job to do. These engines do perform very well though, they drive like the clappers. Oh, and diesel knock when they cold? Yes, they all do it.....
ive been having trouble with my power steering. took it to a dignostics guy but he didnt fix it. problem dissapeared and now power steering is fine. just to let you know so that you dont rush into buying power steering columns. hope it stays sorted, its maybe just a lose wire or somthing.
it also says in the handbook that the power steering light can come on due to external cuircumstances. Read more
Hi There,
I am still hunting for a new car, we tried a Ford Focus C-Max 1.6 TDCi - Manual (2004 /54) recently that was in reasonable condition and drove nicely. The price is also tempting.... Read more
Thanks unthrottled.
This is the conclusion I came to, but subsequently have read many things about hesitation on the manual version. This confused me somewhat....
When starting from a sligh incline the car judders. If I increase the revs the car will start. There is a high take up for the 'bit' on the clutch. Do I need a new clutch??, if so, what cost am I looking at for supple and fit. Do I also need to look to replace the 'cam belt' as the car is 4 years old, but has only completed 31000 miles. Just seen my first Range Rover Evoque on the road
They're smaller than you might think. Seem to be have been based on those Spectrum Patrol Cars in Captain Scarlett.
Certainly noticeable and a bit different - if you can live with rear side and back windows which are not as deep as a letterbox.
A spectacular triumph of style over reality.
I probably won't bother getting one Read more
But the fact is some funky looks and some chrome can sell well and sell fast as customers keep hunting for "something different".
Alot of so called 4x4's these days are nothing more than tall hatchbacks for 20% more money, i know this, you know this, the people that buy them know this, but they still sell! And so long as they continue to do so, car makers will keep making them....
I purchased a new Ford Focus Zetec on 18 May 2011. (16 miles on the clock) Intermittently on start up from warm, the engine RPM rises to 1100-1200 revs and then drops to 400-500RPM and hangs up. Blipping the throttle has no effect until some 3-4 secs later the RPM increases to normal. The garage has changed the throttle housing but the problem persists. There are no fault codes on interrogation. The problem has not occurred from a cold start.... Read more
The problem still persists and the car has been with TC Harison's for 7 weeks. The Ford Field Engineer is currently using the car, loaded with test equipment, to try and find fault. I am reliably informed that there are other cars with same problem.
My concern is that if the car is stalled in a potentially dangerous place, restarting the engine has no guarantee of success to enable the car to be moved....
I am considering changing from a 1.9td fiat scudo to a 1.6hdi citroen despatch.
The scudo has been a reliable work horse for the past 5 years, but now with the price of diesel being so high,i am looking for the same reliability, servicabiliy, performance but with much improved mpg. Read more
The PSA DV6 1.6HDi diesel engine is bullet proof, BUT the oil must not only be changed every 20,000km12,500miles, the old oil must be thoroughly drained out. Do not skimp on non-PSA oil filters, use the genuine article.
This engine will run for ever and give excellent mpg.
having trouble with my wipers, they don't work sometimes or they go slow----today they won;t work at all but i can hear the motor running on both speeds??
Hi, this is a common problem with galaxy, alhambra's and sharen's . The wiper shafts let in water after a while and start to corrode. If you are quick you can strip down and grease shafts and linkages. If left it will burn out the wiper motor which is very expensive to replace. Hope this helps. Sparky100.
