Could be a number of things, I think your only course of action is to get the fault codes read. Very good engines these, I have one that's done 194,000 miles and drives beautifully. Could be a fuel pressure problem - but I'm only guessing.

Let me get this straight-you changed the head gsket and the EGR valve because the engine was burning oil...?

How much fuel have you got in the tank when the cutting out occurs?

Hi,

My 2.5 Legacy has developed a feeling as if it's misfiring, like a split second loss of power, when I'm doing about 65mph+. It feels a bit like when you have very low pressure in one tyre, but all tyres are at correct pressure.... Read more

Occurs on long motorway journeys. Suddenly the throttle becomes unresponsive for a while. Local dealer said there was nothing wrong.

HJ emailled back and reckons it most likely to be electrical interference.... Read more

Dare I ask (and no disrespect whatsoever to this forum) if you have posed this on one of the dedicated Hyundai forums - eg http://www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php or http://www.hyundaiownersclub.co.uk/forum/?

Recently had my No1 injector and wiring loom replaced under extended warranty. VW refused to pay for new wiring loom (£60) but dealer had repaired & returned car to me before this became an issue. I have so far refused to pay as I believe looms are often damaged when removing from connector to injector.

This all follows previous warranty problem with locking system when I was locked out. VW dealer had to break window to gain entry to then do diagnostic - the repair to the locking system was covered by warranty but not the window damage or diagnostic cost, even though fault was covered by warranty. Cost to me £140.... Read more

They good not get into a car without breaking a window the mind boggles, was the loom faulty or not if so VW should pay if not you should and as far as the injectors go you are one of thousands.

i have just ordered a new ignition barrel and key from a main dealer and they have said that they will be the only one that can but the new code on the key to let the immobiliser work, is this correct the reason i ask is that the van will not move so i am going to have to hire a trailer to take the van to the nearest dealer to get them to code my key, or can i call out an auto locksmith and they can do it Read more

I know I am an auto lockie. Call your local auto locksmith he is going to conect an AD100 or similar programmer and he is going to get you the key.

bought a new suburu legacy Jan2nd. Without any warning could not change gear when driving, dealers said there was no lining on the clutch and asked what I towed - I said nothing but a wheelie bin.

New clutch fitted and after 4 weeks, this went with no warning. 2 clutches in 4 months and 3000 miles!... Read more

Three clutches is clearly excessive for the age and mileage but you have no automatic right to a replacement vehicle - at least not at this stage. The dealer has fixed it under their Sale of Goods Act responsibilities. If it goes again in an unreasonable amount of time then you need to come back to me.

can anyone give me some advice on how the suspension on my 56 plate Mondeo ST estate (with self levelling suspension) has become very harsh over time & the car just doesn't ride roads well anymore. The car thumps and crashes (no knocking) over imperfections on the road which can make the car shudder, and are intrusive into the cabin. I would also say that the car is not a surefooted on the road - almost as if the car wobbles very slightly over bumps. I recently had the shocks replaced all round but this has only made things slightly better. Read more

I've got an '01 Polo 1.4 16v, now done just over 100k, and I'd happily recommend one. Very well built little cars, as you'd expect from VW. The Corsa, sadly, is the other end of the scale, absolute cr*p :-( Cheap, nasty, and more cheap. But yes, probably less cash to insure, so if that swings it then fair enough, just have some cash put by to fix it when it starts falling to bits! Just bear in mind there is a certain 'image' that goes with anybody turning up in a ten year old Corsa SRi!!
