currently have a renault scenic in for various fluid leaks, the worst being crank oil seal and sump gasket, now not being a major fan of most french cars for my own reasons, this is the first job in this area on one of these cars for me.

it would appear that front subframe removal is needed to acquire access to sump,am i correct in this assumption and anything else to look out for/be aware of if you please,... Read more

10 months ago when applying full throttle the turbo would sometimes cut out and leave the car on low power for a little while and initiate the engine system warning light. The garage changed the MAP senser and cleaned the turbo actuator and this cured the problem. Now 10 months later the problem has happened again. I suspect the exhaust recirc valve may be letting by and fouling the MAP.

Any ideas to solve the problem ? Read more

Hi everyone. I have a 06 Megane with 51,000 on the clock. I had the window failure in March and took it to Renault to sort. I'm disgusted that even though my car is still under warranty, I had to pay 25% of the costs which was £121 for my share. When I questioned why if it was under warranty did I have to pay at all, I was informed that it was so i would own the warranty of the new part rather than Renault. I think this is a load of rubbish, if they needed people to purchase the warranty why not charge £1? I'm going to take it up with Renault and wondered if anyone else had any joy in getting their money back? Thanks Read more

A Renault warranty includes the words

"this car may fail yt irregular interbvals due to design or manufacturing defects. Anyone who buys it is really naive. After the manufacturer's liability period has expired, TOUGH. You are n your own. Good luck... you will need it"

Unless the water is leaking then its evapourating sounds like the head gasket is faulty a pressure test will not all circumstances find a faulty head a sniffer test is better.

I had no memory of sending my licence off but said I wasnt aware, the police advised that maybe I had a postman that doesnt deliver!!! I said this could not be the case as in May 2010, I was stopped(again for mobile) and they checked my name and issued the ticket and I left.... Read more

Thank you.... Read more

'you need new brakes/pads, squire' has always been a bit of a racket

I should've put 'discs' not 'brakes'...

I keep reading about cars being fitted with the Stop/Start system, the latest Jag has it.

Then I think of driving through the Blackwall Tunnel, London, every day, in the winter, it can take an hour. Does the system turn the headlights down?... Read more

Small turbo petrols are very promising-but they won't beat diesel in sheer efficiency.

The big gains have already been been exploited in automotive engines. Government needs to put put bigger incentives on domestic CO2 emissions which are way bigger and full of easy pickings. But that is a political hot potato...!
