Dear Honest John Team,
I am in a bit of a predicament. About two moths ago i was served with a 'Notice of Intended Prosecution' under section 172 Road Traffic Act 1988 for failing to stop at a red light. Now i am not the registered keeper of the vehicle but at that time the vehicle had been entrusted into my car while the registered keeper was away. Naturally they received the initial notice and nominated me as the one who was keeping the vehicle at the time of the incident occurring.... Read more

I have a 1998 Ford fiesta, and the Windscreen wiper fuse keeps blowing. I replace it and then it is fine for a few days. (I complete a thorough rain test (Watering can) and it is always fine, but then just blows after a few days. Can anyone help? I have traced wiring as far as i can each way, and sealed any points that may have had a leek through the wire coating. Please help :) Read more
Thats excellent help, thank you very much. I don't know of any specific car garages that are electrician specific, any idea of some in SE London, or maybe where i could look to find them! Thanks

As suspected, after calling around to another Ford garage, I found out that I was being majorly ripped off by a Ford approved garage in London. Thanks to the support of a more honest Ford garage I found that I was being charged over £300 for two parts including labour which should have costed less than half this. I challenged the garage on this issue and with the knowledge I had was able to inform them that I should not be charged for labour for one part as the other part being fitted under warranty would involve the removal and refitting of the drive belt thus reducing my cost for drive belt part of repair from £119.80 to £19.10. Naturally I will not be using this garage again and will be making a complaint to Ford as I would like to prevent other drivers from being overcharged. I asked for a print off of the costs of my last 3 services with this garage and have a strong suspicion that I have been overcharged for all my services. Is there anywhere where I can get a breakdown of roughly how much ford focus parts eg repairing and fitting front and rear wiper blades should cost so I can check before I write my complaint letter.
Many thanks Read more
I believe they can charge what they want they are not owned by Fords its up to the customer to shop around for both parts price and service costs.I agree they should be more open with their costs but until then shop around.

Bit of a closed shop with tractors. Manufacturers keen to keep them off the second hand market as it adversely affects residuals and reduces demand for new. Market often controlled by guaranteed buy backs usually by the manufacturer - whether purchased by the operator or a finance company.
