Sounds like it....
I propose to have the timing belt changed on my 04 Xzara Picasso 2.0 HDi at 75,000 miles. Should I have the running pulleys and the water pump changed at the same time and should I use a main agent (for protection against subsequent failure) or an independant (for economy)? Read more
Have the whole kit fitted, you'll kick yourself round the park if the water pump fails virtually wrecking the engine.
Have you phoned around the (family preferably) dealers within say 50 miles for a quote, that's what i shall do with our Citroen....
Hi all. I just picked up a cheap X reg Audi A3 1.9tdi for a run around. When I start it up - even from cold - within a minute the warning symbol and beep from the dash come on saying I should check the coolant levels and the temp gauge shoots across to 120 degrees. The coolant is not low, the water in the system is still cold and the car still drives normally so I take it this is just a sensor problem which I presume is the one in the top of the expansion bottle, or is it? Can anyone confirm this or tell me different? Read more
Nothing mate. Try richkk @ blueyonder.co.uk obviously without the gaps before and after the @.
Two stretch limousines which were seized from the company which owns them have been crushed today because they were being operated illegally and do not meet UK safety laws.
The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) confiscated the two vehicles last July in Carmarthenshire following safety checks, and discovered the owner had no Operator’s Licence. The vehicle will be the first to be crushed since VOSA was given powers to carry out this type of enforcement in 2009.... Read more
Rather than scrap the limos, the authorities should have forced the owner to have them shortened back to a sensible length!

Hi Guys i have 2k to spend on a small run about
what would you buy?... Read more
Well you don't want a small runabout then. I've seen plenty of Citroën Xsara Picassos for well under £2K, they are pretty reliable and are very roomy. As long as you avoid the ones used as Taxis they're pretty good, the cars in your price-band will often have the older more robust 2.0HDi engine to choose from too without DPF and all that malarkey. The petrol units are pretty bulletproof but are not particularly economical.

Here's a contentious subject - the proposed levelling of insurance prices for men and women, which will hit the under 30s pretty hard.
What do people reckon? ... Read more
Yes Bobbin i totally agree with you. I dont think its fair that because others in your postcode con and drain insurance companies its left with you having to pay for it. Just as i didnt like it when i got my first ever insurance quote and had to pay over the odds because of other people in my age bracket. There is an always an argument for making car insurance optional. An RAC survey a couple of years ago found three quarters of British drivers would drive without it if it were optional.
Hamsafar, they will never be allowed to use ethnic origin as a risk factor, that'd be racial discrimination, on a par with gender discrimination in my view. Ok quite frequently the organised gangs ripping off insurance companies do tend to be from such a background, but what about the millions who arent? How would splitting these already volatile communities be a productive thing? It'd only result in a riot and both sides claiming the police dont care about non-whites, the sort of thing our Police now dont have the time or money to deal with....

My daily journey home at about 8.30am takes me along a section of 20mph limit road with a left hand bend in it. There is often a vehicle parked on the outside of the bend opposite a high brick wall. Oncoming vehicles are leaving a large housing estate, usually on the school run. They cut the corner at speeds in excess of 30mph - rather than pulling in behind the parked car and checking that the road is clear before proceeding.
In the last year I have had to make three emergency stops and narrowly avoided another head on collision when the car swerved inwards at the last minute when I sounded my horn. I have left a note (this time last year) on the windscreen of the car asking whether they would consider parking in a different place but nothing has happened. Local police say that the car is not illegally parked so there is nothing they can do.
I have sounded my horn as I approach the the vehicle to warn to other road users of my presence and, as stated above, this has successfully averted a collision. I have tonight been visited by the police after a complaint about my use of the horn and have been told that if I continue to sound my horn they will caution me and then if I still use my horn they will impound my vehicle.
This is an accident waiting to happen and I would prefer it not to happen to me. I had serious injuries after my car was hit by a bus two years ago (not my fault) and am not yet fully recovered. I am concerned that any collision may aggravate my pre-existing injuries and make me unable to care fore my disabled son again.... Read more
Hello All, I think the message posted by Ben10 says it all. As usual the police take the easiest line. They should in fact warn the owner of the parked car that they are causing a nuisance or even a danger to other road users, but if you pardon the pun 'they have copped out'. I would certainly write to your councillor and copy the police officer in charge of the traffic division, your local newspaper and the chairman of the council committee for road management. A nuisance near me some years ago refused all attempts to pursuade him to park more considerately, that is until his parking resulted in a near collision between two skip lorries. During hard breaking a skip dislodged and fell onto his car. He never parked there again! Best of luck with your efforts. Cheers Concrete

My old boss in Geneva certainly did, he retired after nearly 50 years in the motortrade, had multiple agencies, and sold his business to a consortium, and is enjoying a well earned retirement. He was also one of the kindest people I have ever met and had the privilege of working for .
