I purchased this little 1 litre Micraas an economical little runabout late last year. It has 47,000 miles from new which is verified by old MOTs.
Since the day I got it, I have found that if the clutch pedal is depressed to the floor, it is impossible to obtain any gear. The only way of changing gear is to ve the clutch pedal halfway off the floor and this is often difficult to get exactly right.... Read more
Hello,
Car has been great and reliable, until this evening I started it up, it immediately cut out, and the alternator light stays on. Happens every time I try starting it up? Can anyone help with the cause of this? Read more
It could be a problem with the electronic chip inside the key. Try starting the car with another key. If this works you then need to get a new copy of the good key - in case, one day, the second key plays up. Some locksmiths can duplicate these chipped keys; Audi charge a pile of money for them. If this doesn't work, a diagnostic program like VagCom may find the fault. I had this trouble with my Audi A4 - the trouble turned out to be that I kept the keys in a container near a windowsill and they got hit by the sun very early in the morning in the summer; the heat was affecting the chip.
Any suggestions why my VW GOLF MK3 1.6 1996 AEE has failed its MOT so badly on emissions?
It had new plugs, air/fuel/oil filters, 11 months ago. And its only ever done 77,000 miles.
The reasons for failure are.
-Exhaust emits dense blue smoke during acceleration (but it isn't burning oil haven't had to top it up in months)
-Excessive Carbon Monoxide & Hydrocarbon content.
Fast idle test
CO= 0.479%
HC= 159ppm
Second Fast Idle Test
CO= 0.982%
HC= 352ppm
Please, Please Help. The guy at MOT center told me to scrap it, but i love this car. Read more
Hello, can any one recomend a brand of wiper blade thats any good. I currently have fitted a well known german brand, they havent been on a year, now there juddering badly, driving me mad. I also tried some from halfords but these rattled and clunked with use so I took them back. I have cleaned the screen properly, thanks. Read more
Another good tip,once your blades are flush with the screen is to take the blades off and soak them in hot soapy water.The rubber goes brittle over time and this keeps the rubber soft.
Also using a cloth and soak it with malt vinegar,then wipe the blades,this will clean them of any debris and road film.Try it!

I have a 1996 lwb hi-top Master that badly leaks oil. It's a 2.5 turbo unit. It has leaked oil since forever! (As a result it is on its 4th dipstick! Anyone know a cheap source for these?) I suspect a blocked breather system. Anyone got any ideas about this and where the breather system is so that I can clean it? Read more

it sounds most likley that it is a clutch fault. i suspect it had a replacement clutch fitted and it was a non japanese part. These cars do take well to non jap parts and i have known the diaphram spring to make contact with the centre plate when the pedal is pressed too far, ( its called over throw ) when the diaphram spring makes contact with the centre plate it prevents the clutch from disengaging. I trust the cluch adjustment is correct ? if its too tight to start with then the clutch may over throw anyway.
