I have 3 windows now not working on my car due to the regulators failing, Renault say it`s not there fault because it`s a minority of cars affected??? My question is, how hard is it to fix this problem myself without having to go to a garage. Read more

If there are no noises (ie its the module at fault, not the cables or clips), its pretty easy because you can do it wouthout taking off the door card.

Need to replace the rear brake pads on my car? Seen some mintex ones on sale at a good price at local motor factors but they appear to be 'tapered' till halt way through the thickness.

Will this initial top 50% of the pads have the same stopping power as other makes of brake pad or less until they wear down to the 'thicker' part?... Read more

If you mean tapered on the leading and lagging edge of the pad then this is not a problem. It speads up bedding in and reduced/eliminate squeal and braking noise. The effective 'swept' area is not significantly effected. I am presenly running Apec rear pads as I find they keep the rear discs cleaner as I do not do a lot of miles in my T5. Regards Peter

Hi. Looking for a little advice if anyone can assist. basically, i have just bought a pug 306 and noticed the steering seems to be fairly heavy considering it is supposed to have PAS. Im pretty near certain the power steering is not working. I have checked the Power steering fluid and the belt and all is fine there. However, the battery on the car is really tired and is in need of a new one, you can tell by the way the car starts up really lazily and slow. Sometimes it needs 2-3 turns of the key to get it fired up, By this time you can hear the battery literraly dying as the car is firing up. Could this be the problem with the power steering? the fact the battery is dying? or could it just be the pump or other issues. When i drive the car, i can hear a low toned grinding/grutling noise, almost as if a c.v joint or bearing has gone, could this be related to the power steering pump or even rack? Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers. Read more

In the old days when I had a company car I would change it when a new plate came out, and a whole load of us done that as well. Snob value with a new plate....

So I am now interested in buying a 3 or 4 year old Audi A4 and was expecting to see a fair few coming back from lease or finance companies but I have not seen that many. Have been scouring Autoquake, Carcraft, Autotrader... etc..... Read more

A bit off the thread TeeCee but I can sympathise. Happened to me the same way some years ago, my lovely 406GLX with 115K went to auction, next thing a colleague left and I was given his Golf(he had no kids etc). After a few weeks I arranged to meet my MD for lunch, when I picked him up I requested he drive the car there and back. We are both over 6'2" and not small men. He commented it was like driving a roller skate. Upon our return he made a few phone calls and lo and behold I had my new car one week later. It pays to get the big kids on your side. Best wishes Concrete.

Giving my cee'd it's Spring clean today, a nice touch I haven't seen elsewhere - liftout rubber trays in the bottom of the cupholders to make cleaning easy (probably available in other makes, but haven't been aware).
