I have a Mk 4 Golf. It seems that the door seals have now seen better days and are letting in moisture, so much so after the adverse weather we had over the Christmas period my doors would freeze shut and now part of the seal has ripped off the top of the door and stuck to the seal on the frame of the car

The seals themselves seem to be pretty useless there quite thin not rubber like at all and they almost have a ‘moss’ like texture to them to the point where they seem almost mouldy because of the damp, the windows steam easily and in cold conditions there is frost on the inside of my front window.... If you claim on your insurance then, by definition, you will lose your no-claims bonus.

If you report it to your insurer (as you should) and try to prove it was not your fault and that the other driver's insurance should pay, you will have to rely on evidence like where the damage is on your car and that it could not possibly have been caused by your partner's driving. Do you have any photographic evidence? Legal protection?...

My 2.0 VW Golf V TDI (2008) keeps cutting out when driving & idling. It then won't restart for a couple of minutes (no lights on the dash) but radio/heating fan still work. Any suggestions as to what is causing this? Read more

Our garage floor is quite worn and dusty, currently a 4" thick concrete base and we are having the garage replaced, it has been suggested to use a asphalt screed @ 1/2" (hard asphalt) to provide a hard dust free surface for the car. Has anyone had this done on their garage floor?

The other alternative would be to put a concrete screed of about 2" but this would leave a high lip where you drive in to the garage Read more

Has anyone else had experience of these. I've experimented with just about everything out of the 'usual' brands, but I have to say that thes Falken 912's I have just had fitted are superb.

Noise and Handling in the dry are as good as any Continental or Goodyear I have seen and much better than Dunlops or Avons. The wet handling is at least a high average, and they wer about £30 each cheaper than some other more well known brands. Read more

I have Falken FK452s fitted to the rear of my car, at least as good as the Dunlop 9000s they replaced. Have about 10000 miles on them now and not experienced any drop off in performance wet or dry. Big decision when I need four new tyres at the end of the year, whether to fit Falkens all round or splash out on premium tyres at +50% to the cost.

Highly recommended on BMWland as a low cost high performance tyre. I believe they are considered a premium tyre in some countries and priced accordingly, but largely unknown in the UK and a bit of a bargain. Camskill.co.uk has good prices on both the FK452s and ZE912s....
