There have been quite a few 07 and 57 Passat Estates going through auction recently. Ex-lease with full VW service histories. Generally around the 100K mileage mark but obviously motorway miles and around £4K including buyers premium.
My son owns a 2002 Corsa C 1.2 SXi 16 valve. He has had it since Christmas.
He uses it daily for 3 mile each way journeys to and from work and for occasional 12 mile each way trips to his girlfriends.... Read more
Sounds like the timing chain cover gasket has given up. Very common, most are diagnosed as head gaskets.
Hi
I bought a 55 plate 206 sport auto from a Ford dealer local. After buying I noticed that the gear changing wasn't smooth, it hunted between gears and held onto the gears too long. There was also an odd problem of the car banging into second gear the first time it was driven in the morning..... Read more
Unlikely to reply as this was in 2011.
I've just come back from London, overnight I parked in Lambeth and parked in a space which I'd been told by the person I was with was a mon-fri zone as it was a saturday night this would have been fine.
Unfortunately I got back to the car on Sunday to discover to my horror the car had been ticketed.... Read more
I am not the world's expert on Penalty Charge Notices but I think you can be ticketed for each 24h period midnight to midnight so if you had one on 19th and one on 20th then both are payable.
I also don't think "I discovered that I actually had to walk onto the pavement to view [the sign] as it was not visible from the road" will play out well if that is the only grounds on which you are appealing to the adjudicators.
Hi. New to this messaging forum but hoping someone can help!

Failed wipers on these is often caused by a "lock up" of the bsi unit. There is a special procedure to re-boot the system and this usually fixes it until the next time.It would be unlikely that the bsi has failed completely unless it has had water ingress.hth
Recently the wipers went berserk along with the headlights coming on, but then I could not turn them off only by turning ignition off. This has rectified itself now.
Now when locking the doors either by the remote or key lock on drivers door, the locking system lwith a buzzing sound ocks all the doors, bar the front passenger door.... Read more
Strange why these faults should be two separate issues within an hour.
My C4 picasso did the same where the wipers would not stop and had to disconnect battery to stop, then corrected itself and never happened again.
Hi, I have just bought a 2nd hand Micra (2 days ago) I went to use it this morning (for the 1st time) and can't unlock it - I am certain the battery is flat as the I discovered that the boot was not locked properly ! I can't see any way of manually sing the key to unlock the door, so I can't even get the battery recharged ! I hope someone can give me advice Please !
Thank you... Read more
Yes I did ! It took me a while to find it though - it is on the front passenger door, if you bend down you will see a little indent underneath the handle, I put my key here and gently prised and the the "cap" came off revealing a key hole. By the way my battery was flat because my boot was not closed properly, I see from searching the net that this is a problem with some Micras - I have to close the boot and drive with the central locking system on, someone suggested spraying the boot catch with WD 40 so I will try that .
Further to my query about the electrics, as I was driving this morning, a beeping started , with no warning light on the console, it was very unnerving and annoying but stopped after about 5 mins, this is why I was concerned that I had done something with the electrics when jump starting , I was fiddling with the radio when this happened !...
Does anyone know if this vehicle has a DPF and what servicing does this require if it does?

Cheers Ian. Very helpful. Thank You
My instrument display which tells me outside temp, trip and how many km's until an empty tank which I can toggle on the steering stalk............does anyone know how accurate the fuel consumption and km's until empty is?
Currently my reading is that the car is doing 5.6 litres per 100km. I get down to about an eighth of a tank and im still 200km's until empty which seems high.... Read more
They are talking utter rubbish. The level of incompetence of some garages and Ford Technical seems to know no bounds. The garage I took my car wouldn't give up and neither would I.
This is not the first time this problem has occurred for Ford, if they haven't bothered to record the work done for my car and other cars then it's no wonder they claim the problem only existed on your car, they're talking utter rubbish.
They have to remove the instrument cluster panel and directly test the low fuel sensor functionality, the low fuel sensor will either not be working at all (as with my car) or only intermittently working, that's where the problem lies, if they are too lazy to do that then they shouldn't get paid nor have a job. It's utter rubbish them saying they have reprogrammed the software for the light to come on at 75 miles to empty, they may have blown in some fresh software (that's the lazy approach to problem solving) but that won't cure the problem as it's a hardware problem not a software problem.
Go back and tell them you don’t want the car back until they have taken off the instrument cluster panel and tested the low fuel sensor functionality, and whilst they are about it to fit a new replacement instrument panel. They can keep the car until they have completed the work. In the meantime you are entitled to a replacement courtesy car for the duration of the work, it's all covered under Ford warranty, you may have to pay for the courtesy car insurance cover and fuel but that's it. Be assertive and polite.
I sugest you get a diagnostic check to trace the scource of the fault, it could be anything from the fuel filler cap to blocked exhaust. Have you tried giving it an italian tune up ? or it it on reduced power ? Its possible that its just running a fraction more smokey and the Cat is more blocked than usuall triggering of the APF. Try a good blast first and then a fault code read
