Twinair

Very disapointed as our new Fiat 500 Twinair has already had to go back to the dealers.

The engine had a very noticable loss of power so I dropped the car off earlier today. The dealership called to say I wont get the car back for two to three days as the wastegate has a damaged pin which means the removal and replacement of the complete turbocharger.... Read more

Depends what they mean by the "pin", it could be the axle on which the wastegate flap moves. ...

Our rover started smoking badly from the exhaust with a smell of burning oil, we were advised it was the turbo so we changed it, now the car still smokes and smells, and there is loads of exhaust in the exhaust, can anyone help me im getting so frustrated with it Read more

Thank you Tee cee, yeah oil burning goes orange as well ! usefull in the days before cylinder leakage kits and to track one cylinder burning oil, as if a spark plug didnt give it away already.

iI am having a few probs with my EHU on my Scenic, the problem is a loud grinding/squealing noise from the rear off side when the cars engine is stopped and the handbrake automatically engages. However if I reverse prior to switching off the engine no noise is heard. (I know strange )

I managed to acquire a second hand one and after a week/two weeks this squealing started again. Taking apart the EHU that I had previously removed there doesnt appear to be anything untoward in side it. I dont fancy buying a brand new unit if theproblem is now the EHU but something to do with the calliper or another area.... Read more

After 3 years trouble-free, the' in-car' heater /air con fan suddenly stopped working. Fan controls on dashboard show symbols and lights on as normal, but fan did not function.

This fault is unusual on the Note but more common on the Nissan Micra model. After testing, the fault was traced to be a 'Fan control module', a small plug-in unit mounted under the dashboard.... Read more

hi, i have a vectra 2.2 sri direct. could anyone tell me if the pipe that leads from the fuel pressure regulator to the cam driven high powered pump is in fact the return pipe, as described in the haynes manual, or is it the feed to the pump? the only other pipe from the pump is a metal one which leads into the injector rail, so by deduction the so called 'return pipe' must be the fuel line into the pump surely?

hope this makes sense to someone out there. Read more

There are 2 pressure systems on these. The low pressure system is from the in tank pump module which has its own pressure reg built in.This supplies the high pressure pump which is driven from the camshaft.Excess fuel is returned to the input side of the high pressure pump. There is no fuel return to the tank.If that makes sense.hth

thanks for your reply, i think it makes sense yes. so what the haynes manual describes as the return pipe, that leads to the high pressure pump, is in actual fact the supply to the pump?

Model year 2007/57 plate, Engine cut out today and would'nt restart, AA came out and his computer said low fuel pressure. He said there was no fuel in the tank, put 2 gallon in erased the fault code, started it and it was fine. 5 minutes later after putting another £30 of fuel in, back it went into limp mode with engine management light on. Hi Guys, I’m a proud new owner of a 2010 (10 plate) Peugeot 207 1.4 VTI Sport petrol, with less than 6,000 miles on the clock and I am very happy with it (I like the all the toys that you get with as standard). I have noticed a few things though and being a new 207 owner and never having owned a Peugeot before, I don’t know if they are normal or not, so I hoping that you guys will steer me in the right direction. I’ve noticed a tapping noise coming from the engine, now I don’t know if this is the normal engine noise of the 207 or there is something abnormal. I can just about hear this tapping, while I am stopped at traffic lights for example with the window closed and when I park the car and leave the engine running and get out it’s very noticeable. Also when I start the engine and let it idle for a while I can hear a click noise every so often, when I rev the engine it seems to disappear for a while then it comes back. I’m just wonder what this noise could be? Read more

The tapping noise you hear at tick over may just be the injector solonoids clicking if its faint, and the intermitant click may be the air con pump or EVAP valve.

To be honest if tyou have a noise that concerns you , my advise would be to visit your dealer.

Hi Al,I had the exact same problem. Look under the sills (outside the car - both sides) and you'll find a long plastic strip approx 4Ft Long and 2" Wide hel in place with large grommets.Jack your car at one side and remove the strip on the other . this weather strip covers drains that often get blocked with dirt and crap. and water should come pouring out. Do it soon as otherwise you will have dank smelly carpets and rust problems.
