Does anyone know the location of the reverse light switch on an 05 Focus MK2 1.6TDCI?

I have checked the bulb/fuse etc and the switch is the last thing to check.

Thanks in advance.

Quick phone call to a Ford servicing department should be able to help you.

Hello there, the Headlight ajuster in my Vectra wont work. I'v checked the fuses and they seem fine. Will there be a Relay for this as well ? And if so where about is it (maybe it's been removed for a 'Dark' reason by the last owner) Oh, the car has been in a bump and repaired prior to me buying it. Any help would be welcome- Thanks. How long (distance) before you drained it? Also how much petrol went in and what was the reading on the gauge when you went to fill up?

We all know if you modify your car by changing the engine management system to increase power output, put bigger wheels on, modify air filter/exhaust system, upgrade the stereo etc... you have to by law notify your insurance company and they review and change your policy accordingly or decline cover and you have to find alternative cover or remove the modifications.

What if, you take out a policy to which you add European cover which covers you at the same level as it does driving in the UK, i.e. fully comp. level.
If you then put winter wheels and tyres on the car to drive in Northern Europe over the winter (which is a legal requirement in most countries) would that be classed as a modification or are you simply complying with legal requirements? Read more

Interesting question as I have a set of winter wheels and tyres for regular trips to Austria. I never thought of informing my insurance company, as like you say I am fitting them to meet legal requirements.

However, on the speed rating, if you go with the manufacturers recommendations, then you can't be faulted. For example, I have a Saab 9-5 Aero estate, for which the handbook states the standard load/speed rating is 94W. The winter tyres are 94H in a significantly narrower profile and smaller diameter (205/55x16 as opposed to the "normal" fit of 225/45x17s), but once again, these are the tyres as stated in the handbook. As you say, H-rating is quite enough if the conditions are bad!

I note that my Hyundai needs a new pollen filter at every service and a new air cleaner and spark plugs every second service. At close to 20,000 miles pa I'll keep the parts department busy.
This seems a retrograde step from my previous string of VWs which only required such items at much longer intervals. However, I think the VW servce costs were about the same.
Puzzling.

Spot on. The Getz was done at an independent using original parts for less than half the quoted Hyundai price. Took me around the car afterwards showing everything that had been done. (Nice to see that he had actually lubricated all the hinges..just demonstrated attention to detail)

My Motronic equipped M20 engined 320i has an unusual problem that I would like some advice on please.

The air valve, on top of the engine and just before the induction manifold, with a small multi-pin plug powering it, is constantly running even when the ignition is switched off. You can hear a faint buzzing noise and when you touch it, it is vibrating gently. If I leave the battery connected between runs, this fault soon flattens the battery.

The car has been off the road for about six months. In that time, the battery was disconnected. When I came to reconnect the battery, this symptom manifested itself. The car has now been running quite a bit since then - it has been for and passed it's MOT prior to me selling it (hopefully) very shortly!

My first thought is that the fault lies somewhere upstream of the valve, with a sticking relay or similar. My reasoning here is that for power to get to the valve prior to the ignition switch being on, there must be a short in the system, and that it's not a fault of the valve itself. However, I have removed all the relays in the under-bonnet fuse/relay box one at a time and none of them stopped the valve working. I have not yet tried replacing the valve, or tried my valve in situe on another engine.

So my questions are: 1) has anyone else come across this before and what is the cure, and 2) is there another relay box elsewhere that I am missing?

Thanks for any help you can be.

S.Parker.

Dear All,

Sorry for not responding to your offers of help for a while - I have been travelling on business and the car has been left alone for a couple of weeks.

Anyway, none of the suggestions made so far have helped to locate the relays in question. I have not tried accessing the terminals in the ECU. I don't feel confident enough that I won't short anything out. To this end, I'd like to locate the relays first and elliminate them as the possible cause before proceeding further.

I am going to the classic car show at the NEC next weekend. I'll try and find an E30 expert on the BMWOCGB stand.

If anyone who's been helping me so far is going to the show, I'd love to buy you a coffee! Let me know.

If in the meantime, if anyone knows where the FI relays are...

Thanks!

Simon Parker.

Right I have blown my turbo on a 130TDCi for the second time. this is purely down to me not servicing the car.
Is it easy enough to replace the turbo yourself? It looks like a straight forward unbolt, and bolt back on job.

I need to remove the intercooler and drain the oil that dumped in there follwoing the turbo failure, but I would think that it the worst part of the job?

Any tips? Read more

You need to check turbo type if that is the problem.Mine was removed from underneath attached to the inlet manifold.Remove top sheild and inlet hose/duct to see if impeller is free to spin. My impeller shaft sheared thus did rattle. Managed to pull up straight away with plumes of smoke. RAC advised not to start engine again as it can suck engine oil in and be very hard to stop engine running . My total cost thru trade was £525 exchange unit and refitting.
Very important to oil change frequent ~ expensive mistake !!!
Cheers Notts Russ.

My local garage replaced a Pirelli P6000 with a Pirelli P6 last week (car had new clutch fitted also) when I verbally asked for a P6000 because that is what they fitted to the other front wheel only 500 miles ago.
The garage is very helpful and I dont want to cause a fuss. If I had to stop quickly in the wet would it matter the tyres are not identical? Would you insist it is changed? The description of the two tyres abilities dont seem much different to me. Read more

Not unless I disliked the cosmetic difference of having different writing on the sidewalls.

How can i obtain the service history for my 02 plate astra 1.7DTI? Ive brought it off a friend who is a fleet manager for a large company, the car was used at another branch and he hasnt got the service history and is unsure if its had the cambelt change at 100k (car is on 124k). If i phone Vauxhall up (head office) would they be able to track the history down?
Any other suggestions greatly recieved.
