Hi.Have seen comments in October regarding the above problem and wanted to know if the person threading has had any code responses.
My 51 reg Corsa broke down flashing F yesterday and wouldn't do anything.Called AA they towed to to local garage.Local garage state will cost in region of £1800 and then it still might not be resolved and I might want to consider scrapping! This really is not an option. Am I right in thinking if I can get the ECU codes someone might be able to guide me in the right direction?I hope so because short of losing all my hair and the clothes off my back I am worried, very worried. Thanks for any help. Hi All, Im new to this so please be patient with me!!
I have an 03 reg Vivaro 1.9 and the glow light and the light above it comes on after its been running for a while. It doesn't make the van drive badly and looks like it has no effect?? Im about to sell it so need to sort it..ANY IDEA'S would be greatfully acepted, on the basis that i cant be the first to have this?? Also in the morning the starter just "Clicks" and if im lucky it will suddenly start!! The starter at the end of its life????
Many Thanks

Completely unrelated probably since my experience was with a VW Golf. Glow plug light would come on while driving with no ill effects but a dab on the brakes would extinguish it. Would occur every 10 miles. Problem was the brake light switch. Once adjusted it was OK for a year or so, readjusted and it was OK.
Some of you may know of my suspicions that the "4 year 60k mile" cambelt change rule dictated by VAG in the UK may not represent world-wide practice.
The PD diesel found its way to the USA in '04 and as such, many are now coming up for a belt change. The link below gives the VAG (US) recommendation together with some observations from an experienced repairer of these vehicles:

Draw your own conclusions - I'm far from convinced that the Milton Keynes brigade are operating in the best interests of the UK consumer.

Out of interest I still own this car and have yet to change the cambelt, present age 6years3 months and 70000miles. Step daughter's A3 1.9 PD has just had its cambelt changed at 90000 and 10 years, examined the old belt, looked perfect!
Maybe the service book was right!
Can anyone help me to pursue Citroen over an enormously expensive repair I have had to shell out for, and over which Citroen UK justs shrugs it shoulders in a very Gallic way and says tough. This is despite, as far as I can discover, this being a well recognised fault.
The problem is this. The engine fault light comes on, but none of the suggested faults appear to apply. After a couple of stops and starts, the light will go out again. We had ceased to use the local Citroen dealer because they are about the most expensive garage in the place and hopelessly inefficient. Our usual garage could find nothing wrong. Eventually another light also started to come on, so we took it to a Citroen specialist. He found that a valve had stuck, and that the BEM, the electronic module that controls the engine, needed replacing. Their computer did not, at this stage, show up any other fault. When we took it out on a long drive, the engine fault light came on again, and this time the engine went into economy mode. This is to protect the engine, and this is what should have happened the first time. Diagnostic work, which the garage had done at a Citroen garage, showed that the turbo had to be replaced. All in all, the work has cost nearly £2,000.
If there is a fault with the BEM ? and all the evidence suggests that this is the case - then under the Sale of Goods act, they must put matters right. I believe there should have been a recall as soon as this fault was discovered ? instead Citroen is making money out of it.
If you have had this problem, please can you let me know, as I hope to sue them through the small claims court. I have set up a special e-mail for this xsaraturbofighter@yahoo.co.uk.
I should add that I have had Citroens for over thirty years, and that this is my seventh Citroen. I?ve pointed that out to Citroen, and they really don?t care. Read more
I was just in Paris and practically every car seems to be a Citroen. What do they do, ship all the ones that failed inspection to the UK?
Back here in the USA, my work colleagues were laughing at the pictures I took of Picassos, C2, C3, etc., etc., until I pointed out that they'll be driving something similar within a couple of years the way things are going.
A few months ago my g/f car had a problem where the Engine management light kept coming on. She called out the RAC and he plugged it into a diagnostic machine which said Cylinder 3 was failing. When we inspected this we found the Spark plug well was full of water. So we cleaned this out and replaced the Spark plugs and the car had then been running fine until the past week.
It has started juddering and misfiring when accelerating and now the Engine management light is always on. I checked the spark plug well again and once again it was full of water. It was then that I discovered the Fiesta Washer Jet problem which has clearly been causing the problem from visible staining on the top of the Air Filter housing. I have swapped these jets and cleared the water out but the problem remains.
Now i'm not sure what to try next. Do I swap the Spark plugs again assuming the water has damaged them? Do I swap the coil pack?
I have tried the diagnostic check on the dashboard and this is what is says below, I can't see what I thought would be a fault code in there. Am tempted to get the RAC man out again to diagnose the problem again.

Had the same problem with my wifes 03 1.4 Fiesta. Water comes from the core plugs between the plugs known problem with this engine. Have them removed, sealed and refitted.
My Toyota has developed a fault.
The above warning light is on all the time, Now I know that the front tyres are due for replacement, and I wonder whether this might be related.
This is leased car, the last time I went to Kwik Fit to have them changed, they refused as there were several microns of tread left on the tyres.
Now I have to drive to Scotland this week, and with the foul weather and cold, I feel slightly nervous about doing this on poor tyres, with the VSC / TRC off.
I am wondering whether the system has detected the tyres are worn, and hence is illuminated, so it could be cured with some new rubber, or whether I should make an expensive visit to Toyota first for a diagnosis ( If they can fit me in this week )
Also anyone seen the New Avensis in the flesh ? I have to choose between this and the New Audi A4 for my next car.
Thanks

Had the work done over the last week at Feather Diesel in Halifax who with the recovery from a Toyota garage charged a total of £610 for replacing 1 injector and servicing the other 3.
Toyota wanted £3000 to replace all the injectors and take the engine out whilst doing so.
So result for Feather and null points for the Toyota garage.

I have a VW golf (2000). I have the problem that when it gets warm, it cuts out. I have taken it to 1 garage and they could not find the fault. I have also had the RAC out to it and again cant find a fault. Any help please? Read more

If only... The 100PS 1.4 VW units MUST be run on 98 octane unleaded or the pistons just eat away - inside the warranty period in many cases.
Nothing to do with worn oil-control rings; it's piston blow-by that pressurizes the crankcase and blows the oil up the breathers.
Once the pistons have gone that far, the engine is toast and they're £3,600 to replace. Bad cold starting, from low compression, is the usual first sign.
I've got a 2002 easytronic Corsa (u can drive manual or auto) and I've had the flashing 'F' happen periodically meaning I can't start the car when this happens. First had the fault codes read by a local garage and they couldn't find anything (this was Tuesday) and they said that it was probably a fluke, and Tuesday nite, on attempting to go home from being out - I couldn't start the car again.
Took the car to my local Vauxhall garage who have told me that the ECU is broken and that it will cost £841.98 to fix. Then they said the ECU could have damaged the clutch and that could need replacing at a cost of between £800 - £1100!!! but they won't know about the clutch until they put the new ECU in and road drive the car.
I'm really not sure what to do. To potentially spend just short of £2000 on a car that cost me £4000 May last year seems a bit much. If I cut my losses, would I get much part ex for it to put towards another car?
I'm also concerned that the local garage told me they can't find a problem but the Vauxhall garage told me there are big problems!
Advice please? Read more
Thanks for sending addresses .
I also kindly ask other group memebers who have had problem with their vauxhals to send compleint to company , then they can see the ECU problem is serious.
PS. Has anybody et repeired his ECU ?
I've just replaced the spark plugs in my car.
My local motor factors supplied me with NGK plugs gapped at 1.0mm, which seems to agree with every website I have checked that has a facility to look up the correct spark plugs for my car.
However, the plugs I removed were gapped at 1.3mm and having spoken to a number of people this seems to be what Ford usually fit.
The car seems to run fine with both plug gaps.
Can anyone which are correct and why I am seeing a discrepancy? Also what would be the advantage / disadvantage of running with too small / large a gap? Read more
I have just set about changing the plugs on my 1.6 Zetec because of poor idling & cold starting.
I found that the connector on the coil pack for ignition lead number 4 lead was totally worn and charred black. I am amazed the car ran at all. Perhaps check your coil pack for signs of wear?...
hi all hope someone can help my 307 amongst other problems has decided it does not want to unlock i can get in my drivers door and boot the other doors sound like they are unlocking but i cant open them have been told it may be the dead locks any ideas it is really anoying me now Read more
Ah, now if you'd said that earlier!
You need to check the wiring to the control unit, its probably a bad connection after the bumpy drive. ...
Hi been reading through threads and I have same problem flashing f and will not start easytronic corsa my car was shuddering when I was stopping at junctions beforehand, its my first car so asked a mechanic I knew for some advice and he noticed there was no clutch break fluid but just read in this forum u cant put it in without bleeding it he obviously not specialised in automatics. I wnt to the garage and topped it up with these fluids then the f came up and cut it out could this b the reason? loads of people have said it sounds like clutch actuator after reading this im hoping for crank sensor fault anyone help? Thanx
