Hyundai i10

We were big fans of the original i10, but this latest model proves to be a more mature offering that is roomy and great to drive. It also has a good blend of ride and handling, and boasts a good quality cabin too.

It is a nippy device around town but also copes well with longer motorway journeys thanks to impressive refinement. And the 87PS 1.25-litre engine still feels peppy hooked up to the smooth-shifting four-speed automatic gearbox that costs a reasonable £655 more than the manual alternative. The only downside is that CO2 emissions rise from 114g/km to a hefty 142g/km if you choose the two pedal option.

I just rented a new i10 Auto while on hols for a week in Lanzarote. Brilliant Car. Rode well even on rough B roads. Easily powered up steep inclines.I never needed the manual sequential shift option. I drove gently but with aircon on most of time I still averaged 46 mpg. Beautifully light but direct steering . I am thinking of getting one of these in UK!
