Rust bucket

Lovely car to drive, mechanically very reliable, little has gone wrong but tyres wear out quickly. Also suspension ball joints, have changed one at every MOT!. Cheap and easy to maintain and fix at home. Car has done 225000 miles. Can get 40 mpg on a long trip and uses no oil between changes. Guzzles petrol on short trips. Dirt cheap insurance £160! High road tax £270
The main problem is rust and shocking paintwork, as bad as a 1980s Ford. Front wings rotted through, spare wheel well non existant, tailgate rusted, all round wheel arches rusted, etc. the car was never painted properly when it was made and is a disgrace to Mercedes Benz with their 30 year corrosion warranty.
Also SRS light on due to child seat detector mat failure, common fault apparently and fixable with a cheap emulator.
MOT due soon, if I can get it through I'll keep it another year, otherwise the scrapyard beckons!!!
I would consider another E class estate as it can carry so much.
