When driving at various speeds with my foot lightly on the accelerator the car marginally fluctuates the throttle up and down. If I put on cruise control it also seems to do the same. Hasn’t broken down yet fingers crossed been 1 week so far...any ideas. Mileage 184,000 diesel so no spring chicken. Read more

Worn fuel injector nozzles could be the problem, but I'd be checking to make sure there is no air ingress anywhere between the fuel tank and fuel pump. A poor hose connection, deteriorated hose or air being drawn in around the fuel filter housing are likely problem areas. Also check the air filter to make sure it's clean.

Hi all,

This is a strange situation. Up to the last few months, I very seldom used AC, until reading that they should be run for a short time each week or so to maintain the mechanics. So gettiing it checked, it needed re-gassing. Now it's working fine. I've had this Dacia from new 2013 & the average MPG, when fully run in was 41/43 ish. I always do a fuel check on each fill-up. I'm still doing the check, but now using AC permanantly on, expecting the MPG figures to drop. The last 4 fill-ups, after the usual mix of driving, have been, 44, 45, 45 & today 46.13 mpg. Distance covered 373, fuel used 36.76 ltrs = 46.13mpg. Expanations welcome.... Read more

I don't monitor my MPG that closely, so I couldn't say whether our Jazz is more economical in winter than summer. However, it never seems to drop below 50mpg according the dashboard display, and that'll do for me.

The explanation of the difference between winter and summer consumption seems obvious, with, as stated above, the engine running at higher revs for longer in winter before it reaches operating temperature. ...

Been told there are no petrol Seat Alhambra’s left to buy 3 years old or younger in the country and if you have one you can cash it in for a handsome price.

Hope the info helps one of the forum readers

Same goes for all 7 seaters in petrol format , a real shortage.
Makes you wonder if PSA made the right decision ending the Zafira Tourer builds to the UK?

I used to enjoy my little C50. I know they carried on making them for a long time.

Are they still made anywhere? I quite fancy another one in my old age, maybe with better brakes.... Read more

Do we mean that spellcheck automatically edits misspelt words or underlines them in red so you right click to get the correct spelling? Mine does the red underline procedure ok.

We have a right of way road/alley at the back of our terrace if houses - 17 houses long, and only 1 ccess point,

One neighbour (about middle od the row) has started to park cars in this road, therefore blocking access for quite a few to get to their garages/private hardstanding.... Read more

I agree the soft approach is the first option. However before any approach it helps to know your facts. Firstly, as already stated check your deeds for an Easement or Covenant which allow right of way across the alley for access only. It may help if you and your other neighbours had a whip round for a fighting fund. Solicitors cost money! Secondly, checking with some local land owners, it is illegal to deny access to a legal right of way without the consent of the beneficiary. Exceptions being emergancy road works, utilities etc.I think you simply have a case of an ignorant and selfish person who needs to be informed that you have rights too. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Hello All

I have plan my Barcelona and Valencia Trip by road from UK/London which is around 3000 miles using my VW Golf. However my insurance co. did not allow to add my daugther name for 1 week trip as s resul It, can't use Golf and now I am thinking to use my other small car 2009 Jazz which is 1.2 ltr and around 42000 miles on clock at present. it has been regularlly serviced and drived well, I used it for my Bruseles trip last Christmas.... Cannot see why a well maintained 9 year old Jazz should not do the trip but you would need to ensure you have a bullett proof brakdown policy should the worst happen. Some exclude repatriation of older cars in the small print so beware.

Dad had a 1.4 Jazz but only had it 5 years, never went wrong...

Mondeo will not start first time in the morning , it will only start after cranking the engine for a few minutes . I've had two in two garages and they were unable to solve the problem . After two months of putting up with this i have got it to start first time , not the most conventional of fixes as I never sourced the problem. Simply rev the engine to about 3000 rpms before immediately turning off the car and withdraw the key from the ignition. Car starts first time every morning now . Revving a car engine before shutdown would have been frowned upon in the past but I am so tired of this rubbish car i am beyond caring . I went through all the usual non start issues as I'm sure you have if you're reading this, battery . Starter. heater plugs , relay . Pipework, filter bleeding. Read more

So when looking at reviews of cars some models will get a 4/5 multiple times from different sites, whilst other models will be reviewed with less consistent results. I've often used parkers but I'm wondering if some are more biased then others. So including this site, Parker's, what car, auto express, AA, RAC the list goes on, who does everyone feel is the most independent?

I prefer reading the owner reviews, you're going to get a more realistic opinion on the whole, from people who live with a car long term and don't have any sponsors to keep happy.
