Morning All
Out driving yesterday and the tyre pressure loss indicator came on on my Audi A3. Sure enough I found a big bolt or screw sticking in my front tyre. Thank goodness for tyre pressure monitoring!
Luckily the tyres were getting ready to be changed anyway so no great loss. I was checking the sizes and noticed that the tyres were marked with AO which stands for Audi only. The hand book recommends that only AO tyres should be fitted. I have found the same tyre, Dunlop sport Maxx 225/ 45 R17, 91Y at all of the usual online retailers but none specify AO. Surely they are all the same?
Had a look at other forums and had the usual conflicting advice. Any BRers come across this before? Read more
Thanks for the replies. I looked at black circles and camskill to see if there was any difference in prices between AO and non-AO
BC same price, £80.54 fitted
Camskill £74.75 for ordinary, AO tyre £74.15.
I wonder if they have got a load of AO tyres that nobody was mug enough to pay a premium for?
Anyway black circles have a fitter just down the road, so I think I will book it in there.
Thanks again
A link to a YouTube video exploring what the poster says is remaining cars from the 2009 government vandalism program of 2009, the scrappage scheme.
I wonder if some of the cars look far to good a condition to have been stood in a field for up to nine years, others seemed to have been worth a lot more at the time to have been included in the scrappage scheme. Then there are the Porsches, according to the figures 21 Porsches were scrapped under the scheme in the video we have ten here, so what are the chances of that?... Read more
Andrew, on reflection, I think you are right on that. I had misread an article as saying that parts could be used when in fact the author was arguing that they should be available for use.
My 1999 Toyota failed because the engine managment light was on, it passed all its emission tests so why is it a failure. Further more I do not get how it can be part of an MOT if it is not a legal requirment to have a EML. My Alfa Romeo has a screen were it tells you that there are no faults or ifthere are what fault it is, so in the case of the Alfa why have a EML?
Confused!!!... Read more
If the part wasn't working properly then the car wasn't running at peak efficiency.
If the lamba heater wasn't needed then surely the car wouldn't have been fitted with one.
A few days ago the engine management light came on I made a short journey home and when I got home and switched the car off and switched it on again the light went off. I have driven the car as normal for a week or so and the engine management light has not come on.. then today I drove the car and the battery light has now come on does anyone know if this means that maybe there is likely to be an alternator problem?? Or would a VW Beetle"s battery light just come on for a simple battery change? As I have had this car for 10 years and cant remember this happening before I have changed the battery 3-4 times over the years and can't remember seeing that light before .. normally I would just have problems starting it. And then it wouldn't start .. Also I have been reving the car and the lights are not dipping or changing in brightness .. should they .. any clues anyone. Thank you

As e&a/c says, I'd also suggest that if you've had that number of new batteries in ten years then there's something amiss.
Auto Express gives it 4 stars
Any idea when Honest John will review it?... Read more

Hi all really want to buy a Jaguar XJ 2016. But want to transport kids bikes. Clearly I can’t put them on the roof because of the panoramic sun roof. Is there any option I can use ? Read more
Thanks, maybe towbar is the best. I was looking at the racks that have straps but had a bad experience as it took all the paint off the boot edge .
Looking to put my car in my garage and going to purchase electric doors, just wondered if anyone has recommendations for brands to go for/avoid? If it's going to break all the time I might as well do it manually!
Thanks in advance ... Read more
We fitted a hormann opener, mostly so that we could retain the latches at the side of the door - its much more secure than relying just on the resistance of the motor.
Correct, Bromp - I too seem to remember he'd had a stroke, though I believe he reported that he'd made good progress since.
I also seem to remember his legal experience came from previous work with the police....
Kidney, please read the 'naming and shaming' guidance at the top of the page. If you name a person or business and call them liars, you lay both yourself and ourselves open to possible legal action by the other party, who probably doesn't see the issue in the same light as you do.
