Mondeo MK3 diesel - Throttle fluctuates - Appledave
When driving at various speeds with my foot lightly on the accelerator the car marginally fluctuates the throttle up and down. If I put on cruise control it also seems to do the same. Hasn’t broken down yet fingers crossed been 1 week so far...any ideas. Mileage 184,000 diesel so no spring chicken.

On this engine ,the accelerator pedal is only controlling the amount of fuel being metered into the engine.There is no throttle butterfly. All done by the engine management control unit. A slight fluctation could be the result of inbalance of fuel delivery from the injectors. Hve the injectors been renewed or serviced?

Never had injectors serviced or renewed. I’ve only changed the fuel filter once 2 years ago. D

Worn fuel injector nozzles could be the problem, but I'd be checking to make sure there is no air ingress anywhere between the fuel tank and fuel pump. A poor hose connection, deteriorated hose or air being drawn in around the fuel filter housing are likely problem areas. Also check the air filter to make sure it's clean.
