Isnt the E350d All Terrain an estate? Read more
Its an eye opener and we are all paying for it "honest legal drivers that is" but its little wonder they get away with it due to the lack of law enforcement on the roads.I can never understand when i take out car insurance with a different company the renewal is not competitive and I go else where, surely it would be more beneficial to keep known drivers and offer favorable premiums.I have been insured by the same insurer for three years now but only haggling the renewal premium. What an UGLY car Read more
Car prices are now at obscene levels, but still going up all the time. People seem to have accepted the con of just looking at monthly finance payments rather than the huge bottom line list price - so you might as well accept having two mortgages if you want a new car as well as a home.
Their fuel economy was always poor anyway. Most likely reason is that they couldn't compete with other manufacturers on economy and price. Read more
Recently awarded the most polluting engine on the road by Which magazine
Hi, just back from 4 days on the Antrim coast and Belfast, Avis hire car was on Dublin plates, picked up in Belfast airport , the Speedo was in Km/h only, but N.Ireland being in the UK All road signage is in Mp/h. Hard to keep an eye on our speed and hard to keep legal. All cars I have driven in UK have both Mp/h and Kp/h shown but not this Kia. It was a pretty horrid car all round, not a patch on my Seat Ateca, I think it was bottom of the range most basic.
What's the legality of driving in the UK without a Speedo that shows Mph?... Read more
It must happen often in Ireland with hire cars, where someone has picked up in RoI and returned in NI, or vice versa. The hire companies won't want to waste fuel and drivers' time returning the cars.
I don't think it's a legal issue, but thanks for telling us about it, Guy. Most of us I suspect hadn't thought about it, so forewarned is forearmed: if it's important to anyone intending to hire in NI, they should stipulate when booking that the car should have markings in MPH.
Ok, so the tyre pressure warning light has come on on my wife's 15 plate Mk 2 Jazz.
Have checked all the tyres - pressure is fine. So how do you reset the light?... Read more
Not much help for your original question, but I was in a similar position recently with my Audi. Warning light came on so I checked all the tyres. Nothing amiss and pressures all okay. Only later did I spot a large bolt sticking through the affected tyre, it must have been underneath on the first inspection. Might be worth rolling your Jazz forward two feet and checking the tyres again.
I've ordered a new rear brakes kit and wheel bearings for my Suzuki Swift 1.5l 2009. On this model bearings are pressed into a drum. I managed to press the bearing into one of the drums so it sits there firmly, but with the other one the bearing just drops all the way in with no force applied. It sits there loosely and when I try to rotate the inner race I'm actually turning the whole bearing including outter race. Parts have been checked against VIN number and part numbers match the vehicle. I measured the outter diameter of the bearing and it's 58mm +0.1mm all around, so it maches manufacturer's specs.
The bearing is FAG and the drum is HERTH BUSS JAKOPARTS.... Read more
No it didn't fail. Although, I had to replace the drums as they were scored and quite thin. The car has 110k miles on it, so as I had to replace shoes I decided to comletly rebuild rear brakes. Anyway, the bearing and the drum are brand new, as with this design you must put a new bearing on if you are replacing a drum.
After several emails, dozen of pictures and making a video I managed to make the shop to ship me a replacement part.
Can anyone advise please ( from personal experience)
I have care of a car ( owner is in a hospice) the mot certificate has been lost, I have checked online and ascertained the expiry date is 30th Sept 18... Read more
Assuming the car is not in regular use and you are insured to drive it, I'd suggest taking it for a good run prior to the mot to blow the cobwebs away. What is often referred to as an Italian tune up.
The point of the Italian tune-up is to avoid failing the test on emissions. If the car is a diesel (you don't say) a 10-mile run might be advisable if the car is normally idle. A shot of injector conditioner beforehand, or a few litres of super-diesel fuel in the tank, might also help.
An internittent problem; sometimes present, sometimes not. Glow-plug light on dash does not illuminate. Engine turns over but does not start. Read more
Doubt if you will find anyone with a magic wand to fix this. Some investigation work will need to be done.

Dear Big John
I would never attempt to fix it myself. John. The creaking only occurs when indicating (either indicator lever fully engaged or using the 3 second indicator). I tried driving with the hazards on and this does not happen when turning. ...
