Hi all

My boy has a 2012 Seat Ibiza 1.4. Probably about once or twice a week it doesn't start first time. The engine turns but when it fires it struggles then stops, So far it has always started the second time.... Read more

How are you sure the battery is fine? Have you had it tested?

Just read HJ agony column part 2 re the above concerns with his new cars so called assisted driving extras. Regardless of the cost some £1600, what a nightmare experience he has had with the systems. How can the average driver be concentrating on the road when he appears to be at odds with what the cars electronic systems detating something else. What sort of testing and legislation is allowing all these systems to be introduced. I dread to think of anyone driving one of these cars and not knowing these systems are on Read more

Our Ignis has these. I find the lane departure thing distracting. The brake support thing has alerted unnecessarily a few times. The Vitara has whilst on adaptive cruise decided i was drivng into an immovable object and slammed on. But it was a turning vehicle or there was a sharp bend. So they aren't perfect.

Out of ten...about an eight. I don't need them but I can live with them.

I have had four cars in 31 years and am looking to replace my current one (which works fine but I am fed up of it) I do most servicing myself and hope to keep the car until I retire 2025.

I cannot comment on the Civic but I can recommend the Auris

I have had a Auris Touring hybrid for 4 months now and it is a lovely car once you have got used to the cvt gearbox, it's not a car that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end but it's a very smooth, quiet and a very relaxing drive, especially in stop start traffic....

The Kavachi engine was developed by SAIC Motor, based on a re-engineering of the Rover K-series engine.[1] It is used in Roeweand MG Motor vehicles.

The 1796cc Kavachi engine is produced in two versions, a naturally aspirated producing 98 kW (131 bhp; 133 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 168 N⋅m (124 lb⋅ft) @ 4,500 rpm, and a turbocharged version producing 118 kW (158 bhp) at 5,500 rpm and 215 N⋅m (159 lb⋅ft) of torque from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. It is Drive-by-wire.... Read more

Dipped headlight not working on NS so replaced bulb only to find still no dipped light. Checked bulb installed another new bulb just be sure. Same result.

Noted the bulb removed at the outset appeared still be to intact (internals) so maybe not a bulb issue..... Read more

Many cars now have a lot of bulbs in each headlight . It is very easy to find you are replacing the wrong bulb. Verify from the other headlight as to exact location of the non working bulb.

Are these people actually buying the car or just putting down a deposit? I wouldn't hesitate to make a small deposit on a car if it seemed like a good deal, but I certainly wouldn't buy a used car outright without seeing it for myself. Read more

Very worrying that people are so gullible and only encourages criminals to push their nasty crimes.
Never let your heart rule your wallet. Seeing is (usually) believing but then you still need a thorough check preferably by an independent mechanic paid by you -not the seller.

Rocket Wash, I have had a similar issue with a new hand wash company near me, had my car washed there and on arriving home noticed paint had been lifted off at some stone chip points. Result is a £400 paint repair. Never happened on any car before or any other wash sites. Having a metallic paint finish not so easy to do simple touch ups to any stone chips. solution probably invest in my own pressure washer and / or hand wash myself.

What may have happened if your previous car washing firms used a jet wash is that doing so started the process off and the latest one just got rid of the last vestiges of the clear coat (or lacquer on alloy wheels).

The other thing that may have caused this is use of more corrosive cleaning chemicals which more esaily get rid of dirt, but especially sap, bird droppings and tar, but if its not removed within a short time (as alloy wheel cleaners state - normally 30-60 seconds contact time) and/or used as a general cleaner for the rest of the car, then you're asking for trouble....

Cracking little car - having personally worked in this area I think it's a scandal that many vehicles sold with leather seats actually have very little animal hide - usually only the sections in contact with the user, the rest, eg side and rear panels, are actually textured PVC made to look and smell like leather. This happens even on luxury/upmarket vehicles. Read more

I drove over this junction today and do so often. The problem is that the arrow is straight on but the road markings say A428 COV. In short, they conflict and defy common sense as A428 COV is a right turn at the roundabout, so the straight on arrow is misleading and lulls the unwary into an error. Highways Agency is wrong and ideally if arrow pointed right, it would cut problems.
