I see a lot of Landrover drivers have One life live it! written on their car. I was just wondering what I was missing out on in life? Apart from lying underneath one fixing it or regularly taking it back to the dealer I can't think of much.
Anyone have any ideas? Read more
Feel a bit like a sheep meself here ... following the herd .... but it is the case that whenever I see the stickers saying "One Life - Live It" I too immediately, and unfailingly, think ...one life and you're spending it with your head buried in the bonnet, up to here in muck and bullets or legs sticking out from underneath when everyone else is having Sunday roast.
No shortage of them round this way and, indeed, no shortage of Green Lanes made impassable to mere two legged mortals. ...
Why do ford 4500 cd players all seem to crack either around the cd botton or the eject?? I can'tseem to find a non cracked replacement unit as mine has packed up ?? Read more
Probably because someone has hit them hard when they don't work, because the code has been lost.
I have owned my 2010 VW caddy SDI since December and am happy enough with it. But there has been a few times, after i have stopped the engine, and there is a noise that i can best describe as sounding like something being 'pumped up'. It will do it maybe 10 or 12 times rapidly in succession then stop. This does not happen every time, and only ever happens after a short run, of which as a window cleaner i do a lot of. Any idea's what this might be and should i be concerned about it?
Thanks. Read more
Hi
My works Transit van does the same thing occasionally after turning the engine off. Certainly does it when the engine is hot. Don't know if it does it when the engine is cold....
Hi there, so i’ve recently won a corsa at an auction and it has the V5/Logbook with it. Now i’m competley new to cars so im not really 100% sure how the log book stuff all works. Anyway, i’m getting the car collected by a third party transporter and I was wondering how the logbook is signed off and stuff without me being present or can i send it off myself once the car is here with it? Doesn’t the auction company need to send off a slip with my name on it to confirm i brought it or do i just need to send off the relevant section stating i’m the new registered owner/keeper? Yeah Andy, i was thinking the same thing, they are not difficult cars to source locally. Even in my neck of the woods (North East Scotland), it would be easy enough to find one!.
But, for the OP, make sure and park it in such a way to make it difficult to access the front of the car. Apparently corsa's are being targeted by dodgy folk's stealing parts from them, particularly from the front, such as bumper, bonnet, lights, front wings etc. Heard a story about it on Jeremy Vine a couple of weeks ago!.
just bought a Ford Focus 2012 plate from a Ford Dealership on the 09/04/2018. I was briefly told about the Powershift transmission, I mean they didn't mention the issues with it of course but afterwards I have seen that there are wide spread issues with this transmission.
I am used to driving an automatic but I cannot say I notice any difference when driving the car but I put my registration into the Ford recall website and it said the following. ... Read more

Jaguar XJ TDVi Sovereign 2005, 75000 miles.
I picked up our Jag from the garage and we had just spent £4000 on a respray, underseal and lots of other work to get it into pristine condition, it's a car we cherish and want to keep for life. This was not work to get the car roadworthy since it was so already, but to get it into pristine condition and refresh everything.... Read more
I would suggest your sentimentality for the car is clouding your better judgement in this case (only made worse by the fact the crash happened on the way home from the respray)?
It is a sad fact of life that when you are involved in a car accident that is entirely someone else's fault, you are never fully compensated for the "loss" you receive as the repaired car will never be as good as an undamaged one, (unless it is very new where you end-up with a new like for like car)?...
Finally the new MOT regime is getting some press coverage.
I was talking with my mate the senior technician at Nissan who reckons as many as 500,000 extra cars will come out of circulation in the next 12 months on top of the normal quality of cars that are disposed off.
He reckons his dealership will change their policy from only buying cars up to 7 years old (with the odd exception over 7 years if it’s mint) to 4 years for diesels.
He said it’s also going to be a problem for their used sales team in terms of customers seeing anything listed as major on the MOT.
What he doesn’t know and I would be grateful if anyone on here does, what is the process for reporting a dodgy MOT test centre in the new world if you suspect a recently passed is displaying visual signs of problems?
We have a nearby back street garage that the taxi trade use that seems to pass everything including if it’s smoking heavily.
I assumed one would contact the local council licensing committee?
Or is it a matter for the DVSA? Read more
Was just reading the Honest John news item on the new MOT here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/legal-motoring-advice/20.../
"There are a few things that will be tested for the first time. These include if tyres are obviously under-inflated, if the brake fluid has been contaminated, fluid leaks posing an environmental risk, brake pad warning lights and if brake pads or discs are missing."...
Hi everybody,
Today I was driving on the highway and my cruise control was on. I drove almost 2 hours without any problem and all of a sudden I got engine error, and the car started running lumpy. It doesn't go over 80km/h and no higher than 1900 rpm at the moment. I drove to Peugoet official dealer and got it diagnosed. Below is the report:... Read more
Thanks, is there any possibility that the cable got loose for some reason?
One of my staff recently bought a 2012 100,000 mile 320d Efficient Dynamics. BMW services up to 84,000miles and an independent service at 96,000miles.
The timing chain snapped and destroyed the top of the engine. £4,000 to repair and no contribution from BMW....

Yes, it would be entirely reasonable to expect a major part to not suffer such a failure.
Contact the garage that sold you the car. Make sure you mention the CRA in detail, and don't allow yourself to be fobbed off by them telling you to go to a warranty company, ford, etc.
