Hi everyone

Sincere thanks for taking the time to answer, by the look of things I've got away with it this time. Thanks for all the help, I was quite enjoying the process until the question popped into my head. Now I know for next time....

Hi, my name is Kelvin and I am a final year student at UCL. I am looking to evaluate the major factors that affect EV adoption in the UK, and the impact. I have also proposed new categorisation of factors in terms of relative advantages, compatibility, complexity, social image and socio-economic status. The survey also helps to test if there is a geographical difference between UK and other countries in terms of major factors and impact towards EVs.... Read more

I've responded to your survey and, as has already been noted, congratulate you on an unusually well put together set of questions.

One thing, though: I think that you might be falling into the 'averages trap'. One question was along the lines of 'How many miles to you drive in a normal/average day?' I answered something like 20-30, because that's fairly normal for me --- which, of course, would make a pure electric car ideal, apart from its crazy price. But like most drivers I also need to go much further on occasion: in my case, I regularly make a 420-mile round trip, for which even a Tesla would be no good (if I could afford one!) but my Auris turbo petrol can do on a tankful if required. In addition, since it is nearly all on high-speed roads a hybrid would be pointless because it would be running on petrol pretty much all the time, rarely using energy recovery to recharge the battery and simply dragging around the extra weight of battery....

Grandma and granddaughter age 12 were stopped waiting to turn right into home and HGV from Alan Tuers had to take emergency manoeuvre and mounted verge to miss hitting them. You can see video on www.facebook.com/theglen/posts/10215714401683555
The company said we were at fault and that our new car was defective. As you can see in the comments we proved them wrong with more video footage.
The company are behind their driver 100%

Hi, I have a 2004 almera 1.5. There is a bizarre problem with the windscreen wipers. They turn on but will not turn off without switching off the engine. Its not the motor and I dont think its the relay, any ideas? Read more

This probably comes under the heading 'buyers regret'.

Failing to research or shop about before buying often results in paying too much for something, and no real excuse these days its takes minutes to research from the comfort of your chair, its not as if you have to traipse the streets endlessly as in the days before instant viewable information and online sales of such things....

Hi all,

Another vote for an Almera Tino. Also consider a Mazda Premacy if you can find one without too much rust. I ran a diesel version for for 7 years. Utterly reliable, frugal and drove and handled better than either the Tino or Picasso.

That's one hell of a lot of spam.

Takes me back to my primary school days (35+ years ago) - I used to love spam fritters for lunch - yummy! Not when my class was last in the queue that day and they ran out, and we were 'cut off' and had to eat something horrible like liver or a tasteless salad with grated carrot....
