Hi
I had a crash and the garage provided a estimation to the insurance company. However, one week later, they provided a new estimation that is £1500 more than the original one
I find this quite suspicious, as if they were trying to overestimate it now. Is this something that usually happens?
Thanks Read more
.. it’s like if they are pushing for a write off.
Who is pushing - the garage? If the assessment is borderline, it is still your decision whether to write off the car for full refund, or have it repaired, when the insurer will pay less than for salvage. Who gains by writing off?
Nearly needed a new car today after Audi driver oncoming giving it some speed realised the car in front had stopped to turn right. Audi front end hits the deck , back end goes up in the air smokes from tyes can be seen and he decides to pull into the opposite lane to stop hitting the back of stationary car but sees me where he wants to go, i swerve and he swerves at the same time , how he didnt hit me i dont know. Only me and my family are glad he didnt.
All because he was showing off giving it some on 40 mph road Read more
Something similar happened to me back in the sixties when I was a very new driver, somewhere in Oxfordshire on the A40 I think. A car behind a few slower vehicles pulled out and decided to pass them all. I had to take to the verge to avoid a collision. I now wonder why it was necessary, as back then there was so much less traffic.
Q and A on HJ. I think Tim Kelly is wrong but what do others think?
A driver slammed on their brakes so I hit their car - how do I refute this fraudulent insurance claim?... Read more
It clearly isn't a scam, that's obvious surely. The car ahead braked for a yellow light. The OP was clearly failing to anticipate what was in front of them - if the car ahead hadn't stopped, the OP would have had to either brake sharply to have pulled up in time or just sailed through the lights regardless. Additionally, how many crash scammers choose a location where you would fully expect the following vehicle to be slowing and anticipating having to stop for a changing traffic light?! And what, she had the impeccable foresight to know precisely when the light was going to change and hit the anchors at just the right second.... come off it, run-of-the-mill failure to pay attention, surely!
Hi,
When flooring the throttle at around 2500 rpm in 3rd occasionially the revs increase without acceleration. But the car just passed a stationary stall test, carried out by a garage.... Read more

To my surprise I have received a PCN from Premier Park Ltd. I was there at the time and date specified but the ANPR system machine failed to produce a ticket after I put in my registration and paid the £2.00 (all-day charge). As a precaution I left a note on the top of my dash, pointing out that the machine had failed to produce a ticket even though the fee had been paid.
I certainly paid the fee, as a pasenger in my car will confirm. Problem is - it is my word against theirs. I have revisited the car park to check it. In addition to the ANPR camera facing the entrance there are 2 other cameras there - 1 looking down on the machine and the other looking into the car park itself. I feel that I should ask them to check the footage from these before proceeding any further. If however they say that the charge still stands then I feel that I should ask for the relevant footage to be made available (uneditied of course). ... Read more

A neighbour (yes it is "interesting" where we live) is having a wall built where there was previously a hedge. Hedge removed and trench dug and concreted. Used some 7 feet tall crowd control mesh barriers such as you see around buiding sites.

Need to find a recommended parking company at the airport.
Last time I ended up in Coleshill in Staffordshire.
Meet and greet would be preferred but they appear to cost about £90

Just returned from holiday and left my car at a Meet and Greet at another airport and on returning I found that the car looked as if it had been in the safari rally.
Reported the condition to the booking agency and await their reply....

Worked perfectly, thank you so much
