I've got a 2007 ford fiesta with the radio code V082750. It's the 6000CD model. I cant find it anywhere in the car's paperwork! I sawother people had found codes on here and wondered if anyone could help me!
Today's Times reports a package invented and developed by a retired submariner, which is claimed to clean up petrol and diesel emissions - while improving consumption figures - by adding hydrogen to the air/fuel mixture. The hydrogen (ortho-hydrogen, just to make it special) is generated by electrolysing caustic potash solution in a 'black box'. It is said to have been tested thoroughly and proved to work - like all the others, you may say. The submariner inventor learnt about making oxygen electrolytically while underwater; hydrogen was a waste product.
Several questions occur to me: presumably the electrolysis takes battery current, which therefore uses a bit of engine power; the solution must be topped up with (presumably deionised) water occasionally; how long will an overlooked black-box containing KOH last; hydrogen leaks may be hazardous ?... This guy is proposing taking electricity and making hydrogen? I am sceptical to say the least.
I believe the main selling point was that adding some hydrogen would clean up the exhaust. He did also claim improved consumption, which most of us here don't believe.
Hi
Ive noticed a judder on pulling away in 1st gear from a cold start, all the other gears are fine and there no revving when changing gears either. Once the car is warmed up it seems fine in 1st gear.... Read more
Thanks for the response. Cheers.
The car I left for about a week at a time but refuses to start every time until the battery is charged.
How can I check whether there is a leak some where and can you disconnect the battery if necessary? Read more
As the car is based on an E30,there is not much to go wrong on these.Have you had the alternator and battery tested?Any add on kit fitted?
The current threads on driving in France got me thinking as to what visitors to UK are advised. The "Visit Britain guide to driving in the UK" is a corker.
It lists that you should have reflective jackets, triangles, spare bullbs etc as if they are mandatory.
Contrary to the Highway Code it advises flashing lights ("go ahead") and dubious use of the horn ("when someone's driving is really dangerous").
Among visits it recommends driving to Oxford , one of the least car friendly cities in the UK and Bexhill on Sea, a lovely place no doubt but hardly top 10 stuff.
Cars coming uphill always have priority apparently. Hmm possibly out of politeness or to help an HGV but not something I've read since the days when it mattered that your horse and cart would lose momentum.
There is good stuff too but some of the advice is a tad misleading. Read more
The last time I did a lot of driving in the UK; I remember distinctly that a lot of new roundabouts (and a few "facelifted" older ones) were designed to limit visibility of approaching drivers, apparently in an attempt to slow traffic speeds and reduce the likelihood of a collision. Lots of tall hedges and bushes apparently planted overnight in some cases, in a huge conspiracy to slow us all down. Quite puzzling logic, as the great advantage of British roundabouts was always the smoother flow of cars in and out - if there's nothing coming, you can maintain a decent speed and drive on through, rather than losing momentum (and wasting fuel) by braking.
Very nice puns this week (part 1 anyway - I haven't read part 2 yet). I especially agree about with HJ on the last two items - PCP deals with other household debt is going to blow up in our faces sooner rather than later, unless we deal with it now.
The 'charge' (pun intended) to fully electric or at least 'plug in' cars is idiotic, as none of the infrastructure is available, apart from a few charging points here and there, and, if you're willing to shell out several £000s, at home. Multiply that by 5 or 10 if you want the same for a business or in a rural area.... Read more
Same here, with similar mileage.
Re: 'Thirst among equals?'
Hey guys - a Volvo dealer has actually consented to sell someone an actual Volvo V40 T3 petrol (the model I was looking at a year ago but no dealer was interested in selling, new or secondhand). Its like a unicorn just passed by my window...
Still, in some ways I'm glad I didn't get one (there were other reasons), given the rubbish mpg compared to similar sized cars from VAG (Golf/Leon/Octavia 1.4 TSi) and the like, all of which can easily achieve 40mpg+ and similar performance. I'd rather go for the manual on all, given what dual clutch gearboxes they all have. Read more
REGOLDEN OMEY I note HJ has not mentioned the Astra estate as an option. Its rear capacity is the same as the Mondeo estate (seats down, 1630 Lt.) and better ( seats up 540 Lt) HJ has made little mention of the Astra estate in the recent past. I have owned a 1.6 petrol Sports Tourer for several years, it is a fine looking car, with no turbo to go wrong, almost 40 MPG (in my case) and is well made IN BRITAIN !!
All well and good, the potential problem will be just how reliable and durable will it be. Mini SIM cards are not very robust, typically only reliable for a max of about 3 months continuous recording, after which there is likely to be gaps in the recorded journey. This is from personal experience. Anyone who has a dash cam should check the recordings regularly, just seeing the screen is not good enough.
In the event of the recording being needed to backup an incident it must be removable for at least the few minutes, prior to, during, and after the incident, preferably for the whole journey, for the recording to be useable evidence. Read more
Hi all,am after a bit of advise.I got hit in the rear end by a 3rd party, there was some damage to my rear bumper and I noticed some vibrations/shakes in both my steering wheel and the car in general. The 3rd party’s insurance arranged for a repair to be done through their recommend garage.A couple of days ago I got a call from the repair garage advising me the insurance aren’t going to cover the repairs because the garage have advised them that in other for them to troubleshoot the problem of the vibrations the first of all need to do a wheel balancing and possibly a wheel alignment,if that doesn’t work they would need to do some further checks. The insurance company had refused to authorise the wheel alignment or the balancing as they feel it’s not accident related and it’s just wear and tear.
I would appreciate any advice.Thanx Read more
