Hi there, i was wondering if anyone on here had any idea what could the issue with my car. I am planning on taking it to the garage next week but i just to know what i could be potentially dealing with before i get there.
Basically, everytime i start it, there is a rattling sound that seems concetrated towards the drivers side and this sometimes stops after a couple of seconds. Revving the engine doesn’t seem to change the noise of this rattling. Ive attached two links of videos with sound of the rattling if that helps!
Thanks

I am wondering whether or not it is possible, and safe to fit a single axle trailer to my car. It will carry an 85cc motorbike and/or kayak at most.
Thank you in anticipation. Read more
I don't see why you can't do it as long as you don't go too crazy with the load on your car. But if you wish to just tow a bicycle or a motorbike or any other lightweight load you should be fine. I would first read the technical book and see if it is acceptable and also search on more information on different websites.
Here is a good resource for you to read more about towing guides:...
Hi all,
Our car is under an AA warranty and was brought from a local ford garage in mar 2016. From Summer 2017 we have repeatedly had engine malfunction message or engine management light come up. Our lower engine has now failed and i just need to know where we stand so I'll give you all the events.
June 2017 - engine light on and halfords say need a new solenoid, aa covered this
Nov 2017 - Turbo failed aa cover we just pay for parts that aren't covered for turbo change
leave garage get home light back on halfords say to drive for a few days so can do a reading it stays on and start to get a strong burning smell so it goes back and told faulty turbo so new one ordered and put in
Dec 17 - engine light on told turbo again and need new lambda sensor aa will cover sensor and i guess turbo on part warranty?
Jan 18 - engine light again take it in turbo again and told need new egr valve again aa cover valve turbo on part warranty?
Apr 18 - engine light take to halfords they now do a full check incl electrical and have car for 4 days, tell me it's a pressure valve/fan? and aa will cover
- next day car is rattling and phone halfords and aa (to complain) we are told to take it back on way engine light comes on, within a few hrs halfords tell us lower engine catostrophic failure due possibly due to carbon deposits that caused engine to be starved of oil.
Halfords also told me this is a known problem with engine type so why was this not checked surely repeated turbo fails would point to something like this?
Now waiting on AA to do investigations they have requested all paperwork from halfords incl pics so now waiting on a decision.
Any advice incase i need to fight my corner?
Thank you x Read more
Sounds to me like Halfords are throwing parts at the car, knowing AA warrranty will pick up the tab.
I have reversing sensors and a towbar fitted to my vehicle. Since these are both aftermarket accessories, the parking sensors beep when I reverse with a trailer or towbar mounted bike rack attached.
I have various options: just pull the power on the parking sensors; fit a switch to the wiring in the boot; run wiring to a switch on the dashboard; fit some sort of relay between the parking sensors and towing electrics.... Read more

Having run over something sharp I went to a supposedly reputible supplier to change my front passanger side tyre, whilst I was there they kept asking if I wanted tracking, weights on my tyres checking etc and I ended up paying £100 for a new budget tyre and the 'other' jobs! 10 weeks later, I'm driving into work and I feel my steering go- like you're on ice but I wasn't on ice. I damaged the back of my car and ripped the back tyre as my steering had just jarred and I couldn't avoid it. When I went to get my back tyre changed at a different garage (which only cost £45 for the same tyre), they asked me why my front left tyre was the wrong size?! The company had fitted a tyre 10mm smaller than my other tyres. I contacted the company and they asked me to get a quote for the work, said they accepted liability and told me their insureres would be in contact. However, then I receive a letter saying they don't accept liability! How dangerous is it to fit the wrong size tyre? Read more
In the wrong sure, to fit wrong size tyre, but I doubt that caused the accident.

Fill car to brim and use A road one week and repeat using motorway. Longer would be better and if you use car for other trips it will mess it up. Guess car has no trip computer....

Most commonly on these, A rattle from the driver-side engine bay is due to a worn timing chain.I would check the oil level on the dipstick first.Get the garage to investigate the problem
