April 2018
I visited a main dealer recently and couldn't believe how bad their car park was.
To enter the car park you need to cross an uneven pavement, which is covered in scrapes where cars have dragged their bellies in the past. I went slowly and was ok in my car (good ground clearance), but if you had purchased something new and sporty then I'm not sure how you would get it in and out. Once I was in, there were cars parked everywhere and I think I had the last space, which was in an area full of new (unregistered) cars. Even though parking spaces marked out, there were cars parked everywhere. They had even fitted their own charging point on their own double yellow lines!... Read more
This is a long read which shows you can never be sure just what sort of maniac you might encounter on the roads during an everyday, routine journey: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-43716912
TL;DR - motorcyclist heading home to his family from working a shift on Christmas Day 2015 overtook a Mini on a virtually deserted M4. In response to being overtaken, the Mini's driver accelerated aggressively and started hounding the motorcyclist for several minutes before clipping the bike, causing it to crash and killing the rider at the scene.... Smoking vehicles need to be reported. Probably nothing will happen but it would be good if the authorities at least sent a please explain to the owner. Even better would be if they had to under go a pollution inspection and a hefty fine if they failed. Too much to hope for though.
I have a peugeot 206, 04 reg
The front wipers wont work on fast speed, they work fine on intermittent and slow, but on fast they just stop anywhere on the windscreen. Read more

Looking at a 17 plate 2.0tdi 150 bdo Skoda Superb estate in L and k spec. As the car was registered after the 1st April it falls under the new tax rules whic I believe is £140 a year?. Is this the standard rate that I will pay from now onwards or could it potentially change?
It’s a great car but I have considered finding a 66 plate! Read more
It"s pretty simple and plenty of tables around which confirm emissions and tax payable for pre and post April 2017 registrations. Its why I delayed registration of my car last year as it reduced annual tax by c£400pa but I had to pay the larger 1st registration amount. I don't see what your MP is going to do when the rules are, and have been clear, there is no point comparing pre and post April 17 cars as the rules are different!
does anybody now what the measurement is to the top centre of the wheel arches from the ground please, tyres are 235/60/16, just want to be sure my springs are 100% ok many thanks Read more
It appears that a bill is being sponsored through parliament to limit the powers of the private parking companies. They have finally figured out that giving the keys to the asylum to the lunatics is not a good idea!! How could the cadaverous Phillip Hammond ever think it was a 'Protection of Freedom' to allow these shark operators to pursue registered keepers of vehicles for spurious parking charges. Especially when it is by no means certain that the registered keeper was the driver at the time of the alleged 'offence'. It simply made life a whole lot easier for a bunch of money grubbing charlatans to pick our pockets, as well as riding roughshod over the basic priciple that one is 'innocent unless proven guilty'.
I hope the amendments proposed are carried and become law and we will have some of our rights restored. This is not a licence for any individual to park irresponsibly, although some do, but it must be worth protecting our basic rights to defend a charge instead of being persecuted simply for being a regsitered keeper.... Never mind, recharging electric vehicles will be much simpler :-)
God help us when that comes in - cables all over the place, just waiting for youngsters and drunk yobbos to play with (never mind animals to chew through)....
My fan heater gave off a burning smell of melting plastic a few weeks ago, then the next time i put the fan on its stays on for a few minutes then slows down and goes off.....is it the blower motor that has broken or something else

Very likely to be fan speed resistor and connector plug overheated. Access is easy. Drop down glove box and resistor is located at the back and to the right. Parts readily availble from the ' bay of fleas.
Well it had to happen sooner or later, report on the BBC that a driver had climbed into the passenger seat of his Tessla and just let the car get on with it and sod the rest of the drivers on the motorway. How manufactures/ Government can enable idiots to even have the opportunity to do this is beyond me. Unproven tech in motor vehicles is going to cost innocent victims their lives. We have radar cruise control, automatic braking and other so called safety sytems which give the drivers a false sense of security. The latest I observe is brake lights coming on for no apparent reason when following on the motorway due to these systems. These sytems may be alright for those who have them but what about the rest of us when these auto cars are throwing on the anchors. Why can't we by a bog standard car anymore at an affordable price. You cannot be sure of even hanging on to your expensive motor due to the electronic entry sytems being hacked! What do you do with the remote, give me a key to put in the lock as before. Electronic remotes not fit for purpose and consumers should not have to put up with it. Read more
No we don't. Thanks BBD.
Please use the other thread if you feel the need to comment.
In theory auto pilot could allow someone who has not passed driving test to drive. Then why even offer it? If car is on autopilot, drivers are bound to divert their attention elsewhere.
That is not that the system is designed for though.. It's for motorway driving and requires someone to be behind the weel as it is not 100% and is also not a fully automonous system.

I don't want to buy a car that's kept being shuffled around a car park. I see this a lot of dealers with cars parked bumper to bumper and I bet their batteries get a hammering. I used to drive past a dealer regularly and every morning they would move a car to the front and put it back at the end of the day. They did this for many months and would I want to buy that car? That's probably one of the reasons that I prefer to buy privately rather than from a dealer.
