Anybody know how to remove the electrically operated front-seat headrests from a MB GLC? Read more
Also remember there will be electronics for the "pre safe" system.Leave well alone unless you have experience of safety systems.
I need to get hold of some replacement heater knobs for a Mazda 2, after a toddler pulled two out and posted them out of the window! But I can’t find out if it’s a standard fitting, or if I need to be sure they’re Mazda specific, any ideas? Many thanks Read more
Thanks for replying :)

COULD ANY KIND PERSON ON HERE ADVISE ME WHERE THE COMPRESSOR IS ON MY CAR PLEASE MANY THANKS Read more
thank you have a low whine i need to find lol
TL;DR
- Car had no spare though stated on invoice it would have - got a kit instead. Where do I stand?
- Exhaust was added to a clutch bill without calling and it was conveniently "scrapped" so I couldn't take a look
- Engine light was supposed to be fixed and has been diagnosed and "deleted" 3 times now can I reject the car?
- Mechanic took car for an 80 mile road trip over the weekend and had to put "petrol in" though I ended up with less than a quarter of what fuel was originally in the car. - Surely this is not normal?
Thanks... Read more
you purchased an 11 year old vauxhall, that it appears the previous owner got rid off because of the clutch.
Now you have had all this work done, hopefully it will prove reliable as the 1,6 petrol Zafira while being increadibly slow and having a horribler gear change, is fairly reliable....
“Back in the day” sunroofs used to retract inside the car’s roof space.
Many modern cars now have them retracing externally to the vehicle shell.
Does anyone know of any reasons for this? Is it for aerodynamic/efficiency reasons or just for show? Read more
As my current car has climate-controlled A/C, I have no need for a sunroof. Admitedly back in the day, when I owned a Nissan Micra with no A/C (no electric windows too), it was a selling point when I bought it, because the model with the A/C was a lot more expensive.
Fortunately, my Micra was well designed so that I had options that didn't result in me getting sunburn or cr@pped on by birds. It was a manual 'tilt and slide' unit with a retractable turning handle; the glass itself was covered (on the inside) with a black mesh coating to reduce the light level, and the unit had a retractable, thick louvred screen so that the sunroof could be open to help ventilate the car without having the sun on the occupants. It could be tilted up in 5sec or fully opened in 10 - handy if it started to rain....
My wife likes large old Hondas. So we bought a 2003 Stream privately, full service history, recently serviced and MOT'd. Nice clean oil. On the way back from the seller's house the engine management light pops on - you couldn't make it up! It still drives fine though. On a car of this age, is this likely to indicate a * serious* mechanical problem?? All suggestions gratefully received.
Any number of things, I was very careful looking up ford focuses when I was buying my next car a year ago, (I wanted a ford focus) actively checking MOT histories and whatnot, the car I chosen was relatively free of failures on its MOT history and it came with a years MOT.
I test drove the car, nothing seemed out of the ordinary so I purchased the car. 4 miles later the EML came on (yes FOUR MILES LATER), I took it to a garage, they couldnt see anything wrong and erased the fault....
Bought a car today and had to go into the PO to tax it using the new keeper supplement. I've just noticed that the receipt has the wrong reg on it and is one letter out. Is this something I need to be worried about? They scanned the barcode on the keeper supplement and that reference number appears on the receipt as well, I would have thought the DVLA know what reference numbers are linked to what cars. Check online that it is taxed.

I found a clock in loft when we moved in, it is a gold Swiza 8 days alarm clock with handle on the top and it works it looks about 1940 - 1960s, it may have radium on the needles and on dial spot around the numbers the colour is dirty cream rough like paint by hand. Me and my wife are concerned about Radium but we don't know much how to identify if it is Radium or not?
Is the Radium glow all the time? I have a black UV light it glows green till 1 minute then gone.... Read more
"Although old radium dials may no longer produce light, this is frequently due to the breakdown of the crystal structure of zinc sulfide rather than the radioactive decay of the radium, which has a half-life of about 1600 years, so even very old radium dials remain radioactive."
Radium paint glows through its natural radioactivity. It probably won't anymore because the activity has dropped off. The very first thing to do is look for white-ish paint on the watch face and hands, where you'd want to see it in the dark. Do you have anything like this?
