No, this is not about some new porn craze, rather it's about a recently observed and worrying driving method.
We've all suffered standard tailgating. Fortunately my old x type diesel will produce 007 levels of black smoke when dropped a cog or two and floored, which tends to discourage them.... Read more
Maybe there were as many pot hole damaged cars in the past BUT few cars now have spare wheels (just a useless can & no jack or even skinny spare) & the only way to get going is to call your breakdown supplier Read more
Hit a pothole in the ouside lane of the a12 in essex on a rainy night. Destroyed the tire and the alloy wheel and nearly put the car into the crash barrier. Had the car recovered to garage and they also found damaged steering components. phone the council and not interested unless i could give the exact location and a clear photograph. No chance on a busy a road. Ended up £580 out of pocket. I think the next car is going to be one of those monster trucks with gigantic wheels!!
TomTom supplies data to Apple for navigation in its iMaps on iPhone doesn’t it? I just wonder why you’d buy a stand alone TomTom if you already have an iPhone? Perhaps it’s a data allowance thing. Read more
My 2004 Civic needs to be replaced at 333,000 miles after 14 years of ownership. Great car and still going but has just been written off after an accident.
What should I get next? I have a budget of around £8,000. I use this as a commuter car only, Monday to Friday. Covering 550 miles per week.... Read more
their new unit aparently has had emmisions reduced by 8% but the economy is the same
Apparently the figures are more or less the same (slightly higher) but the tests have been changed to provide more "realistic" results - so in theory the economy should be noticeably better. If I don't get a 9g tourer, I'll get one of those next!
Hi all
Our car is experiencing a potentially serious oil leak and I've spotted that an owner of the same model has experienced a seemingly similar issue. It's reported as a "what to look out for" in the summary review for the car.... Read more

Suggest anyone who wants to keep their cars long term has a good poke nose underneath with a view to washing the winter salt off and touching up any areas that look grim, we've seen several winter's worth of salt put down this time and what it does will be staring you in the face if you get under and have a good look.
Don't forget that salt will have done it's worse in the brake calipers too, so get those cleaned and lubed up too, or expensive lessons will be learned when the calipers start seizing up come summer.... Read more
Yes winter ahs not been kind to my CRV. The first winter I bought it, I treated the underside with ACF50 but didn't have time this year. Hopefully just surface rust which TBH on a 15 year old vehicle I might just whack some Hammerite Straight to Rust paint on, after a go over with wire brush.
Morning all, I’d appreciate your thoughts on the predicament I find myself in concerning my 2010 1.4 Petrol twincharged VW Tiguan that I bought 2 years ago and has completed 59000 documented miles. It has developed a misfire which, by swopping over coil packs and leads, has been proved to cylinder 4 and my local technician (ex VW) says its most probably a faulty injector and advised me to try an injector cleaning additive first because a replacement would be expensive. Now after the dealer’s years warranty expired I was cold called by a young lady who sold me another (£28 a month). The warranty has the usual non-payment of wear and tear clause and indeed I’ve not bothered them when replacing front struts and brakes but I’m wondering if I have a case concerning the injector because I’m thinking that if it’s normal wear and tear then surely all the injectors would fail at the same time. I’m asking for your thoughts on this because the warranty company will want me to go through their garage and if they refuse to pay then I’m left with a hefty bill whereas I could use my local technician who will be much cheaper.
Regards, Graham Read moreAs an addendum to my story I should say that after taking the car to have the inlet valves cleaned I was informed that in fact they all require changing. This I had done at a cost of £2000 but on driving the car home I discovered the misfire was still there. Taking it back to the garage they found that, indeed, injector no 4 was coked up - due to the bad condition of the valves. A new injector has been ordered and I should get the car back tomorrow, free from misfires.

Or it might be that we allow someone to pass a test at 17 and never have to have another day of training, ever.
Worse still, the fact that during the 53 years before self-certification for licence renewal kicks in, there is absolutely no provision for checking of eyesight, hearing, reflexes or hand-eye coordination - although thanks to the wonders of omnipresent CCTV and ANPR, a car with its MOT one day out of date instantly converts the driver into a suspect, and an agonisingly long delay between a driver parking and paying for the privilege can similarly bring swift justice crashing down on the undoubtedly heinous criminal and reap juicy financial"rewards" for the powers-that-be....

I am looking for a reliable, decent to drive and ideally with an mpg of around 40 or more 2016-2017 petrol automatic to have for the next 3-5 years. My budget is about £15000.
I am not interested in the way it looks very much, but I do care about reliability, decent comfort inside and to be nice enough to drive especially around town where I do most of my driving.
This is what I managed to understand so far... please escuse any mistakes, I am new to cars.
Toyota Auris 1.8 Hybrid - reliable, good mpg but a lot of people have complained about it being uncomfortable or boring to drive..not sure what boring means in this context.. and also noisy at motorway speeds.
Ford Focus 1.5 - good to drive but poor mpg, just about 30 so probably I'll have to skip it.
Seat Leon 1.4 - good to drive, 40ish mpg, not sure how reliable is it?
I have shortlisted 3 cars. Could you offer your advice as to whether which one you think is better please?

Thank you all for your kind advice. I have went through all the reviews you have mentioned but since I got a reply from someone who has the car I thought I should ask for their opinion as well.

it used to be more fun when there were more 3 laned roads, question - who had ownership of the middle lane - answer, everyone tried to, at the same time too!
