Hello everyone,

On Thursday at around 3:15/3.30 I was reversing out of a space and accidentally scraped the front end of a Range Rover. I've only just recently started driving and am not confident in reversing in and out of spaces. I got myself into a predicament. Anyway, the lady only took my name and phone number, no insurance details but she hasn't been in touch. I've read that you're supposed to make a claim to insurance companys as soon as possible, preferably within the first 24 hrs. I'm just concerned of where I stand if she doesn't contact me until next week. Sorry if I sound totally nieave, this is all new to me!

Thank you Read more

Some very reasonably priced aftermarket reversing sensors can be bought and easily fitted now, might be a worthwhile investment for a new driver finding their feet.

There is an additional reason why diesel fumes are bad for one, food. The fumes deter pollinating insects from doing their job. In Issue 3165 of the New Scientist there is an article reporting on research into the effect of diesel fumes on scents of flowers of plants. The fumes destroy the scent so the insects (bees included) can’t find the flowers. I realise that the average BR might care little for garden flowers but when the flowers are from food crops it becomes serious. Read more

I wonder how much diesel fumes there are in the middle of a hundred-plus acre field, in the middle of the countryside.

There has been previous research with similar findings:...

According to the internet the above is a recurrent problem with Golf's.Can you please let me know if you had a problem. Did the dealer acknowledge that there was a problem? Or did they say they did not believe anyhing on the net regarding car issues? How was the problem fully resolved?

Thank you... Read more

Just had my SLK tracked and it was way out due I suspect to bumps and cushions. Wife's 2008 Volvo V70 had exactly the same problem, humps etc would appear along with potholes to be the culprit so how to do least damage when you can't avoid the things? Service centre doing a roaring trade @ £60 a time, also which cars cope best with humps etc? Some of the roads around here-Basingstoke- are rife with potholes and at night in the rain you plain can't see some of them them coming, even at 30 mph you can hit one with a real bang.

I have heard folks on here say you shouldn't do this as it will cause the inside edges of your tyres to wear much quicker (though i must confess that is how i usually go over that type, must try to change that!)

I suppose if you drive on a lot of cushioned roads there might be a noticeable effect, but as a proportion of tyre wear caused by cornering and roundabouts, that sounds like an urban myth to me. Just possibly, if you straddle the cushions at speed for amusement, some wear could be caused.

I've actually managed to find a video which shows a Sanyo Car Radio Fitted into a Ford car and how to obtain the serial number:

Hi, I'm looking to replace my 2007 Fiat Panda 1.3 Multijet, which is coming towards the end of its life, with something perhaps a little roomier, perhaps a compact MPV, petrol rather than diesel, with space & height in the boot for a folding wheelchair (Panda has barely enough depth with seat in use), with a budget of max £5000.

Some must-haves: I'd like the seats to fold down level with the rest of the boot, and some choice of how the rear seats split/slide forward would also be good - the Panda has one bench so not very great. Some storage, whether under the boot floor or otherwise would be good... Read more

Yes, I figured PX out in time - thanks!

No, sensors are not something I'd buy a car for, it just seems strange that they'd not include just simple sensors in the Acenta. I'm sure the super duper one you get with Tekna is great, but a little stingy considering other similar cars fit them. Didn't realise they were cheap to fit afterwards, good to know.

Some scrote cloned my plate - which I then changed after the second (quashed) NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) for speeding, since then I've had a further three speeding NIPs, the DVLA know of course I've changed my plate the Police must be getting their info from them.

Surely if I went around demanding money off people by falsely accusing them I'd be breaking the law? "Demanding money with menaces" I suspect - how is it the state can do this to me with impunity? What do you reckon, if I took legal action for harassment – are the DVLA or the Police at fault? If we actually had any police on the road, actually policing (like they did in the old days) this would have been a brief issue – so far 6 months and counting – I’m beginning to seriously lose my rag, actually, looking at the NIPs I can see a pattern in the dodgy driver’s commuting behaviour – is there any wonder people are taking the law into their own hands? Surely if I went around demanding money off people by falsely accusing them I'd be breaking the law? "Demanding money with menaces" I suspect -

I think you may struggle a little with that contention because, for no other reason, if you read the paperwork you get following a speeding incident you will find that they are only asking for the details of the driver at the time of the allegation. No demand for money - with or without menaces - is made....

Just found out it’s £30 a year so not talking big bucks here ha ha :)

TBH even at top end of VED scale, compared with overall running costs, it's hardly worth breaking into a sweat over.
