Hello all

Ive decided after many years to stop doing PCP and buy a car outright have about £7k to spend and want a Jag XJ around 2006.. there are certainly plenty on the market and I’m sure a lot of rubbish.

Just wondering is this the best one to get or can anyone recommend a good specialist dealer.

Thanks

I had an 05 diesel bought with 17k on the odo at 3 years old. Ran it to mid 80k. My previous Jags had been petrol and I wish I had bought a petrol X350 instead of the diesel. Nice enough and good on fuel. Once drove from Luxembourg to Perpignan on 1 tank. Mid 40's easily seen but, mostly, late 30's. At 60k the pair of DPFs failed, had them cleaned, failed again. Top side of £1k all in with the clean then replacement. Other things to watch for are parking sensor fails, had several and they come unpainted. Also suspension compressor. It was the most problematic of my XJs. The X300 XJR was ace and the 3.6XJ 40 the most comfy. However, if chance/money allowed I would have a 3.0, 3.5 or 4.2 X350 again.

Rgds and happy hunting...

Hello, I drive a 2006 Mitsubishi Colt CZ3 and lately noticed that the car eats up significantly more gas than before. Cant give you exact numbers but it's really noticeable. I also noticed that when idling the car sits at about 900 rpm while previously it was at 750. So I want to start diagnostics on what could be wrong, but dont know where to start. Any suggestions? Just where does the money I pay for road tax go to? Yet another increase yet even more potholes are appearing on our roads. Surely the money should go directly back to filling in these monstrosities and give us roads to be proud of again. If Germany can do it, then so can we. I am sick and tired of paying more road tax year on year but also having to spend my hard earned cash having to constantly repair my car with broken springs and damaged wheels, etc..... We should ALL stand firm to a man, and refuse to contribute anymore to this governments coffers. I am totally p1$$ed off with this ever increasing rise :-( Read more

Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas, hydrogen sulphide is a poisonous gas and sulphur dioxide is also poisonous. Petrololium gasses from filling or spillage or unturned fuel has more of a greenhouse effect than CO2.
I believe my diesel with its euro 6 compliance equipment and urea injection, gives less pollutants than most petrol cars.

The Prius will do 10% to 20% less mpg in the winter simply because the engine takes longer to warm up and you have a higher load through the alternator eg lights on. No need to replace just yet. The best weather condition are from approx 15C to 21c.

If you get the car serviced at Toyota they will keep extending the battery warrenty for up to 10 years and with unlimited mileage. Read more

After having a locking wheel nut chewed up due to being over-tightened, and seeing it happen to two colleagues, I invested in a torque wrench which resides in the car. Whenever I take my car to a tyre-fitter or garage, I always swap the locking nuts for regular nuts, just in case. When the car is returned, I replace the locking nuts and make sure all the nuts are at the correct torque. Where the torque wrench is adjusted by twisting the handle, return it to minimum position when not in use, so that the internal spring is not in permanent compression.

Autopilot.

I cannot believe they have finally done this, put in a method for the car to interfere with the steering, you could not pay me enough to take a car on that has the capability of taking over control like this, yet another reason to stick with older cars.

Regarding the Ford ka radio code. I would like to thank you for your reply. It worked and I actually whooped with happiness on my way to work when the radio burst into action thanks to you elekie&a/c doctor. And by the way it is the first and last time I will whoop with joy whilst driving to work. Thanks once again for your help. Kind Regards BoBFord.

My friends back-up camera installed on their cars and apparently, I don't. They say that it is for safety measurements and secure parking. I know it is an excellent choice to get a backup camera, but I don't know what and where to order online. Help me, please! Read more

Sarah, your choice of working is a source of confusion!

I had a reversing camera on my former car, Nissan Primera, loved it, I could park up close to items like bollards and not hit them, presently I have reversing sensors on my present car and whilst it is useful, it is not nearly as good as actually seeing what is right behind using the camera....
