yet another hare-brained scheme by a bunch of people nicely insulated from the real world. NO infrastructure to support a massive swing to electric, without a similarly massive investment. Who pays? oh yes - you and me.
No battery plants in the UK, so yet more investment. We pay.
No compensation for existing diesel owners. We lose out again.
MPs will jump on any passing bandwagon without a thought for ordinary people. As it ever was....

Hello I am hoping that somebody will be able to help me out as I don’t know anything about cars and don’t want to make a mistake when buying my first car.
My budget is £4000 and needs to be an automatic and in insurance group 10 or below.
I did narrow my options down to a Honda jazz 1.4 cvt or Nissan Micra 1.2/1.4 I have found examples of both with only 30000.
Does any body have experience of driving these cars and if so which would they reccomend or is there any other cars that anybody would reccomend I don’t really want anything above a 1.4 as the insurance estimates for both jazz and micra are £2000.
I have discounted Toyota Yaris MMT and Ford Fiesta durashift as I have not heard good reviews about the transmissions, and would prefer a CVT or DSG transmission.
Thanks in advance . Read more
Download 'vehicle smart' on your phone and it gives useful info on any car. Ask around for dealer recommendations, the cars you have named seem a good bet. Might be a good idea to get an AA inspection for peace of mind. Good luck.
Hi,Can someone suggest a good approachable(email etc),pallet collection&delivery company to pick up from East Lincs and deliver to Cleveland?I`ve put the LDV Pilot rear axle diagonally on a 1 x 1.2 m heavy-duty pallet...but it still pops out a few inches each corner, would that bother a courier...or is it best to make an oblong narrow pallet to accomodate the axle properly.I was thinking I could get away with protecting the hub/wheel bolts as it is.I will secure it thoroughly, but I have no way of weighing it and the heavy pallet to get a quote.
Any advice/recommendations please? Read more
Many thanks badbusdriver,RaineMan and Happy Blue, much appreciated, that`s given me plenty to draw from this afternoon. Will report back when all done&dusted......it might help others.
BBD,Yes I was worried about how I was going to protect the ends of the axle.Looks like I`ll have to join two pallets together,it`s such a long item,no real width to it though....
Hi I've just upgraded from a focus mk1 to a mk2, I had a couple of questions if anyone can be of help. Do any parts transfer from the old to the newer one E. G. Wheels tyres bulbs etc I don't expect it all to. Also what do cars go for scarp these days I've been advised £120 at auction but if someone offers to pick up for £80 just take it, but don't fall for the 'you have to pay us to take away'. If a car is taken for scrap and I do say take off the lights, bulbs, wheels etc will they still take it or is it usually the whole car they want. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Read more
When i was going to scrap my old transit connect, the local scrapyard told me they paid £50 per ton, which would have meant about £75 for me. But in the end i gave it to my brother, him and his mate fixed it up and it is now back on the road!.
But donating it to the firestation seems a very usefu way for an old car to end its life, would never have even crossed my mind!.
Car won't start as it used to. It takes a few times before it starts.
This has been happening on and off for about 2 weeks ago with the snow, I had left the car off for about a week. This hadn't happened in cold days before. It used to start straight away even at 1 degree centigrade. Someone posted that this happens in cold days and that you do have to turn on and then wait for 20 seconds before turning on again. Do you need to keep button down for 20 seconds or leave for 20 seconds and start again?
Weather: 5 degrees centigrades. It took me 5 times before I could start it, first: radio on engine off, second: dashboard said Engine already on, third: no lights all dead, fourth: yellow ECU energy warning light stayed on, but then it disappeared once I finally got to start it properly. If this is a fault, would the 3 year warranty cover it? I have been using this car for the last 8 months, bought it nearly new.
Day before yesterday and other times: radio came on but engine didn't...had to try a couple of times before it started...Looking for suggestions, hopefully someone out there can help me. Read more
I would assume the car has stop/start function. This could be a battery problem.
Hi my sons 206 won’t start. Prob not battery as is turning over just engine wont ignite. He hadn’t used it for a while (learner) and didn’t turn it over through the recent cold snap. Any ideas? Could it be the spark plugs? Read more

Don't discount the battery. Mine would start first time in warmer weather but completely refused when we had the -5 temperatures. Swapped the battery and all was well....
Most cyclists ride on the footpath. Read more
One point I will make about cyclists is that the vast majority of adult cyclists are also drivers and many of my mates motorcyclists.
So, really the vast majority have passed one or more tests.
I think that MOST of the cyclists complained about here are either young and never had any training and I make no excuses for their bad behaviour or lack of lights.
I have often thought that it would be a good idea for people who want to drive a car or ride a motorbike should have cycle training as part of the qualification process. This was something that used to happen naturally because prior to the sixties only the boss came to work by car and the rest of us walked, came by bus and many cycled.
This progression would enable prospective drivers /motorcyclists to see the problems that we all face but from a cyclists perspective.
Anyway, STILL NO VIDEO!!
I recently won a small claims case with a car dealer who sold me a car with a dodgy engine. I have had all my money back thanks to the bailif's steady work. I have given the car dealer 14 days to come and collect the car and have had no word from him. Can I now sell it for spares and repairs? How long is it reasonable to wait? I am not sure where I stand legally. Any advice much appreciated. Read more
I was just awarded compensation. I sent him a registered letter giving him 14 days to collect and have had no word at all.
Unless the court's order transferred it back to dealer its still yours. If you had to use the bailiffs to get your compensation it's unlikely dealer will co-operate with getting rid. ...
I'm just about to take delivery of a Jaguar E Pace. Need some solid advice on anti theft security device(s).

Something else you may want to get done ,if it’s not too involved,is get the 16 pin obd socket re-located to an area not as accessible.

The key word:
"end the sale of CONVENTIONAL petrol and diesel cars"
Hybrids will meet the criteria.
