Has anyone had problems corresponding with the Co-op Insurance? On two occasions within the same claim I've had to duplicate my accident report, once with their main claims dept and once with their legal dept. This has mean't drawing the same diagram four times. Both departments say they did not receive the original letters blaming the post. You can blame the post once but not twice surely. It seems to me they are not coping efficiently with claims and are loosing paperwork or a long lag between receiving the paperwork and entering details onto their computers. Read more
Hi guys, i'll put the flame suit on here, we are a small motor trader stocking around 10 cars at one time.
We sold a popular diesel saloon 2006 with approx 80k some 10 months ago to a very difficult customer.... Read more
You were within your rights to insist on him accepting a refund rather than a repair.
The choice is the seller's. not the buyer's....
I had a freak accident this week for which I took full responsibility. My repair via insurers is around £3k (heaven knows what the other car's prognosis was). My question is 'what is the word on the street' regarding keeping or selling on a vehicle which has had an impact. Are there residual niggles that occur over time? Something similar happened over 25 years ago (someone else's fault this time!) and we elected to take a lower write off amount, rather than live with the unknown of further troubles down the road. Any thoughts from the ether? Read more
Can you get a copy of the breakdown of parts and labour that make up the £3k? Or have a chat with the bodyshop manager. That will tell you the extent of the work and possible damage to expensive bits. £3k isn't a big repair but worth trying to find out just for your own peace of mind.
Greetings,
How can someone be sure that a car has no previous tickets or police records? ... Read more
Falsefying a legally enforceable document probably isn't the best idea you've ever had, however that's done and you'll have to accept any backlash from your actions. As far as I'm aware the police have 14 days to inform you of any intention to prosecute a traffic offence, so if you've not heard by now you should be ok. However if your car was proved to be involved in any criminal activity during your ownership get yourself good legal representation.
Interesting though in tests I have seen, the two wheel drive 'winter' tyre shod car far out performs the summer tyre 4x4. Obviously tyre performance differs tremendously but perhaps the contact point with the road is more important than the number of driving wheels? Read more
I recently renewed the photo on my licence and was sent back a new card with a bike licence on it. I've never sat a bike test, but does this mean I can now legally use a bike. Read more
I had the same thoughts when my licence was renewed after moving house recently, however, looking on the DVLA web site I discovered the codes after the symbol are very important and dictate what you can drive / ride. What looks like a motorbike actually means a tricycle in my case. This is under A category with the code 79(tri) afterwards. I would check the web site to be sure.
Over the last couple of weeks the car has stalled on me a few times. I thought it was me at first, but then it stalled whilst idling.
Today it stalled in traffic whilst idling and would not restart straight away. After a few minutes rest it restarted and ran okay for a few miles. It then stalled again whilst idling and upon restart I got the MIL.... Read more
I have changed the CKP sensor and all is well again.
The big clue was that when it cranked but would not start, there was no response from the rev counter - so I could tell that the engine wasn't getting it's speed signal, which it gets from the CKP sensor. As soon as the CKP sensor kicked back in the rev counter would show cranking speed (about 100 rpm)....
My 2012 Fiesta 1.4 titanium, manual has covered 7500 miles. No problems except an unpleasant whine in 2nd gear when going through 2000 revs +/- 200 revs. under load. No whine under.ein any other conditions.
Is this normal or do I need to get it fived while under warranty?... Read more
Thanks Oli Rag, that is very sound advice and it was also my firm intention.
I was taught to parallel park when I was a youth and have got steadily worse. The best parallel parking I ever saw was a woman parking a Rolls Royce in Knutsford. She was suberb !

Hi all,
I bought the zafira 6 months ago. At the time there was a slight whining noise that would change pitch when you reved the engine. It didn't happen all the time and I let my dad convince me it was nothing to worry about.
Anyway the other day while driving in 3rd, the power dropped and I could hear a screeching like when the fan belt goes. I turned off the fans and power was restored. The car drives fine, but as soon as I put the fans on there's screeching and no power. When I turn on the fans when the car is idol, it feels like it's going to stall. As soon as I turn them off all is well. Does any one have any ideas. Also I think I should mention that the AC wasn't on, just the regular fans. Read more
First thing I would do is have the alternator belt checked in case its breaking up or loose, if its loose it will need adjusting or possibly replaced depending on its condition, if that is not the problem then its likely the alternator is at fault
Like to report how pleased i have been with a repair carried out by my insurers More than following a side swipe on the door of my van.
Van was collected on time and a replacement provided by Enterprise who were brilliant in providing a lift to their local depot....
