Hi

C5's are quite common for this. It will be the child lock. Where you turn the screw on the face of the door to activate it, will be half way between on and off. Only way to open it is take the door card off!...

The R56/7 in 1.4 or 1.6 are the same Peugeot/Bmw prince engine in different states of power and/or tune.Looks like you have inherited previous owners problems.Unfortunately these engines can be very troublesome and expensive to fix.Is it too late to reject the car?Having it fixed by the dealer could mean you have accepted the situation.

Hi,

I have a VW Polo 98, it is my 1st car so still learning all about it. I didn't drive it for a couple of weeks and the other day decided to go for a ride and it started fine, stayed in the car for 5 minutes and then drove off. Within a minute, it stalled but started again and I drove off.... Read more

Had to pop into the car yesterday to grab the sat nav holder and decided to try and switch on the car - started with no problems!

I didn't try to drive it though and just switched it back off. Will try it again tonight but was talking to my colleague who said it could be the alternator or carburetor....

Has anyone had problems corresponding with the Co-op Insurance? On two occasions within the same claim I've had to duplicate my accident report, once with their main claims dept and once with their legal dept. This has mean't drawing the same diagram four times. Both departments say they did not receive the original letters blaming the post. You can blame the post once but not twice surely. It seems to me they are not coping efficiently with claims and are loosing paperwork or a long lag between receiving the paperwork and entering details onto their computers. Read more

Like to report how pleased i have been with a repair carried out by my insurers More than following a side swipe on the door of my van.

Van was collected on time and a replacement provided by Enterprise who were brilliant in providing a lift to their local depot....

Hi guys, i'll put the flame suit on here, we are a small motor trader stocking around 10 cars at one time.

You were within your rights to insist on him accepting a refund rather than a repair.

The choice is the seller's. not the buyer's....

I had a freak accident this week for which I took full responsibility. My repair via insurers is around £3k (heaven knows what the other car's prognosis was). My question is 'what is the word on the street' regarding keeping or selling on a vehicle which has had an impact. Are there residual niggles that occur over time? Something similar happened over 25 years ago (someone else's fault this time!) and we elected to take a lower write off amount, rather than live with the unknown of further troubles down the road. Any thoughts from the ether? Read more

Can you get a copy of the breakdown of parts and labour that make up the £3k? Or have a chat with the bodyshop manager. That will tell you the extent of the work and possible damage to expensive bits. £3k isn't a big repair but worth trying to find out just for your own peace of mind.
