Speedo on the above vehicle has an intermittent problem - it only appears to work once we go over a speedbump in the road, and then reverts back to not working again. Where is the pickup sensor for this, and is there any way of testing it?
Thankyou

The speedo and mileometer both stop at the same time.
Is there any way of testing the sender unit.
Hi,
I've got what I hope is a fairly simple issue, however I just want to ask some advice from anyone who miay have been in a similar situation.
On Sat 14 Nov 14, I purchased a second hand car from a second hand car dealer in Essex. The vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder appeared to be in reasonably good order, and although we did not conduct a test drive, the engine sounded fine (to me as a layperson) for a diesel with 93000 miles on the clock.
The dealer sold me an enhanced warranty that cost me another £400 above the £8000 already paid. We drove the vehicle home, and while the automatic gearbox felt a bit ponderous the vehicle appeared fine. On the following Fri, the vehicle clearly had something drastic wrong with it. On talking to the warranty company, I was informed to get a diagnostic done before they could do anything further.
I took the vehicle for the diagnostic this morning and was shocked to be shown a list of faults, all of which point to the requirement for for a new automatic gearbox and a new radiator. All together with labour, this will cost in excess of £3000. On talking to the warranty company, I have been informed that the maximum single claim is £2000, leaving me some £1000 out of pocket. Given I had the car for less than a week when the problems manifested themselves, and the assurance from the garage who conducted the diagnostic check that this is a problem that the vehicle has had for some time, do I have any legal route for getting the dealer to accept part or all of the remaining bill above what is covered by the warranty?

Any views on the latest 6 diesel engine vs. the petrol? there's a lot of noise online about Mazda diesel engine prolems but do these woes apply to the latest generation? I do around 12k mile per year, mostly motorway. The latest 2.0 petrol Mazda motor seems a sensible alernative, with great economy. Makes me wonder whether there's any point even considering the diesel other than perhaps for a more grunt at motroway speeds. I realise that even without the Mazda sepcific issues, modern diesels are considered to be more prone to expesive failure than petrol, but is there any reason to suspect issues with this petrol engine? thanks
The 6th is a cruising gear, not great for acceleration unless doing 75mph+
Bmws diesels are very good indeed, hence why there's a lot of them on the roads now

I have just brought a citroen c4 that won't start the person I got it from just had the head gasket done and a new coil pack and plugs. It doesn't seem to spark but is cranking over I have put it on diagnostics and came up with a number of codes also the person I brought it from was driving it for 2 weeks before it broke down I have checked around the engine for a loose earth or something with no luck the faults I'm getting are fuel injection low voltage 1 to 4 coil faults 1 to 4 also half the dash doesn't light up most the time and windows don't work any ideas what this could be Read more
I would check if the crank position sensor is working,if not, neither injection or spark will occur, if you have live data that should tell you if you have rpm if 0 on cranking cps is at fault
Can any one help me please.
I have the issue of the airbag light coming on the passeneger dash board when someone is sat in the seat.I have plugged my scanner in and it comes up no fault.

I've seen someone trying to sell a Fiesta used, dirty air filter on flea-bay.
Please advise me on the life xpectancy of a crankshaft in a vw Golf, purchased new less than 3 years ago. Warranty was for 3 years or less than 60000 miles. Car had completed 72000 miles hence out of warranty but been regularly services at VW and a reputable garage.
Please advise me if this is to be expected and thus just has to be tolerated with a £2000 bill or a fault that suggests the engine was not fit for purpose and can thus be challenged? (under supply of goods to consumer regulations)... Read more
Well and truly corrected. Many thanks again Skidpan.

In the interests of free 'speech' I won't do that, but I will close the thread.
